  • I really like the Bowmar Nutrition proteins. So many great flavors! Plus they have whey, egg white, and vegan varieties. Yum!
  • I like the Bowmar Nutrition non-stim Pre. Lots of different flavors.
  • I. Hate. Potatoes!!! And bacon ruins everything it touches.
  • I recommend Bowmar Nutrition. Even though heavy metals are not regulated by the FDA, they are very transparent in what is included in their protein (and all their products) and they are DELICIOUS. I'm a vegetarian AND trying to go low-carb (it's killing me!), I have probably one scoop per day either mixed in coffee or with…
  • My certified nutritionist recommended intermittent fasting. She said by not eating for a period of at least 12 hours, your gut gets to reset, cells get to regenerate, the body gets a chance to break down and use all of the nutrients you've put into it that day so it can "tell" you what it needs the next time you eat. I've…

  • at 10am on a Sunday, I'd have an asiago-parmesan bagel, fried eggs, and cheddar samich from our local bagel shop...insert Homer Simpson-like drool situation here...
  • Limoncello spritz is my new go-to summer drink (even though it's just March, lol). Limoncello with Fresca....yum. Or really any kind of champagne/sparkling wine cocktail. French 75 is great, Kir Royale is great, a mimosa with a minimum 80/20 bubbles/OJ ratio (or do cranberry juice instead for less sugar!). I am a wine…
  • Hey all! It's been SO LONG since I've participated in the MFP Community even though I've been tracking for ... a LONG time. So this group/thread seems like a great place to dive back in. I'm a teacher, so end of March is SPRING BREAK and I'm heading to Key West to visit some friends. I've gained a LOT of weight in the last…
  • I use a protein shake and make sure that my yogurts (Greek, quark, cottage cheese) are always low fat or fat free so that the macro count leans in favor of protein rather than fat. I eat a LOT of veggie burgers, as well. Boca makes good turk'y burgers and the vegan burgers are really great - something like 14g protein and…
  • I am an AVID wine drinker, and I find that if I'm not having a glass but other people are, I'll have something else instead to keep my hands busy. For example, last night I drank two cans of (diet) ginger ale and two cans of sparkling Ocean Spray cranberry juice. Total of 180 calories. Doesn't sound like a lot, right? But…
  • I've never done a running challenge online, but I have run several half-marathons and one full marathon. It's been 2 years since my last race and my husband and I are training for a half-marathon in November. We ran just under 7 miles yesterday and did 2 (recovery run) today. Total miles for September so far: 30 Goal for…
  • Start Weight: 197 Challenge Goal Weight: Weigh-in #1: 194.2 Weigh-in #2: 193.2 A positive thought I had this week was: I've done this before, and I can do it again. I can't rely on anyone, no one can help me, I have to do this for myself, and I can do it. A healthy snack/meal I chose this week was: I usually eat pretty…
  • I LOVE Thai food. I'm an eternal fan of green curry - lots of veg, spicy, and I get it with either tofu or shrimp as protein. Cucumber salad is also delicious, fresh and spicy. Tom Ka soup is delicious, but can be sneakily HOT. My advice? Be adventurous! And order something that's loaded with veggies!
  • I stuck to my diet all week for two weeks and hit all of my exercise goals. I love it when non-scale victories turn into on-scale victories! I hit my yoga class two weeks in a row and love it.
  • I agree with @amyrebeccah . Start now! Make sure that you're eating plenty of protein and replenishing your energy stores after a strength training workout - don't go overboard, as weight training doesn't burn as many calories as cardio, but you need some protein/carbs to help your muscles recover.
  • I love the Fresh Express salad kits...the Strawberry Fields is awesome, and so is the Pear Gorgonzola. They're under 150 calories per serving (2 servings in a bag) and that includes the dressing content. So good. Check them out!

  • Drinking wine and watching "Harlots", waiting for bedtime.
  • I alternate, depending on what's on sale. I love both.
  • Paris is always a good idea. So is Ireland - Dublin is great, and Galway is fantastic. It's a great country to do an extended 10-12 day tour to hit all the little corners. It's small enough that traveling from place to place doesn't take up all of your time (the train from Dublin to Galway is three hours, and they're legit…
  • Hubs and I just finished this one for cardio: http://www.shape.com/sites/shape.com/files/u36/workout_chart_jump_for_joy.pdf We did one round and it only takes about 20 minutes, or you could do it twice. I do the imaginary jump rope since we do it in the living room, but I burn a solid 220 calories per round (5'7",…
  • I feel your pain. It's rough when you're doing everything "right" but not seeing any progress. I have to work out every single day to see progress as well as eating right. I have to work out double hard on my period to just maintain...ugh. That being said, since you are in your 40s and seeing this kind of resistance, have…
  • Go for it! Yoga is for every BODY!!! It can be a little intimidating at first, but once you begin to realize yoga is about what your body CAN do, what your body is GOOD at, how your body should work for itself, then you start to appreciate it more and more and more and more. I've had my fair share of "too fat for yoga"…
  • I don't lose just by diet/counting calories, or, like someone else mentioned, I do, but at an irritatingly slow pace. (1400 calories a day should be between 1.5-2lbs per week for me, but I'm lucky if I lose 1.5-2lbs per MONTH by diet alone). It has to be a combination for me. Strength training 2-3x per week combined with…
  • I love it! My only problem with this challenge is that I tend to read the short books within a few days....I can read all the way through Prisoner of Azkaban in 5 days (maybe two weeks if I'm working)! It would be impossible to lose 26lbs in that amount of time!
  • I love the Body Sculpting Bible for Women (there's a men's version as well). Great step-by-step instructions and pictures for each exercise, plus several 6-week training plans based on your goals and equipment.
  • I have leg day tomorrow - I love a leg day on Saturday! Squats, lunges, ballet squats, calf raises, deadlifts, and throw in some triceps and shoulders for balance. Then maybe a nice long walk with the husband.
  • They're in the oven right now....smells so good! When I entered the recipe (with my specific ingredients) it came out to 9 brownies at ~233 calories each, 28g carbs, 11g fat, 12g protein, and 18g sugar (I added some brown sugar to cut the richness). I used the wild friends brand of vanilla peanut butter. THEY LOOK…
  • I'm going to try these this week. Thanks for the inspiration!
  • I posted this about a year ago: Brownie Batter Overnight Protein Oatmeal (with a vegan option). 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any low-fat milk of your choosing) 1 cup old-fashioned oats 1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (I used a container of Danon Light & Fit Greek 2x protein vanilla - the vegan option here is to…
  • Try shakshuka without the feta cheese...there's a great recipe on BudgetBytes.com. For a college student, that's a great website for a lot of recipes. I make a lot of them vegetarian by switching out the beef or chicken broth with veggie broth or using vegetarian meat substitutes in recipes. Great recipes from…
