  • I gained nearly 3kg (6lbs) last weekend, I was at a wedding in Ireland. We drank *a lot* (4 days of it). I was back to my prior-to-wedding weight by Thursday. I'm sure most of it was water weight and it came right back off as soon as I resumed my good habits.
  • 40 pounds = a 5-gallon bottle of water or an average human leg 44 pounds = an elephants heart I'm right between these two
  • I keep a thermos of cold water on my desk at work, and I set an alarm for each hour that I am at work (I only work a 6 hour shift M-F). I try to finish 1 cup per hour, if I haven't finished it when the alarm goes off, I drink it down at the hour mark. By the end of my shift I've finished 6 cups so when I get home I only…
  • I'm 44, and I think the avg heart rate was more like 150 for the hour.
  • Do something with your hands instead of putting them into a bag of chips. I make a lot of jewelery while I watch TV. It tends to take my mind off the food. In fact, I find on days when I am crafting I often forget to eat until I'm ravenously hungry.
  • It *is* a creamy dressing but it's really low fat - blue cheese dressing from www.skinnytaste.com. I use double the amount of greek yogurt that she does and I usually don't put in the mayo, which makes it only 48 cals per tablespoon. I LOVE it! I use it as a dip for snacking on celery and carrots when I'm really hungry…
  • Started April 11lth, 2011. Current weight loss 31lbs.
  • If you have a lot of weight to lose, you will not go into starvation mode for a long time. Plus, by only eating below the 1200 for one day and then going back up you are keeping your body confused and it won't go into starvation mode. It's only if you stay under 1200 for a while that you'll go into starvation mode.
  • My husband and I have been using info we got from the book 'The Alertnate Day Diet'. Basically it is zig zagging but you eat normal one day and half (or less) your calories the next day. On our 'down' days we are eating around 7-800 calories and on our 'up' days we are eating our MFP reccomendation or occasionally more. So…
  • This is totally true. I am a supertaster and I hate most veg because they taste bitter to me. CraigIW and I are married and he likes a lot of veg that I don't like so we make recipes where the veg can be 'hidden'. I know it's there, but I can't taste it so it's ok with me! The exception to this is peppers, I don't like…
  • I went to Asda the other day after work (about 7pm) and there was a guy in the fruit aisle with 2 crates of strawberries marking them down from £2 to 10p! He'd found them in the back of the store and they were outdated for that day so they needed to sell them quick!
  • I'm more of a pear shape, I usually have trouble getting things to fit around my tummy, not my chest.
  • Hello from Scotland, though I was born in K'zoo MI and grew up in Lansing!
  • It definitely works, I've lost 23lbs in 10 weeks doing zigzagging. That said, I'm very close or sometimes over my calorie goal on my 'up' days. For instance, today I was only 4 calories short of my goal. The day before yesterday, I was probably about 200-300 over as we had a KFC for dinner (for the first time since we…
  • Ok, that's being a bit TOO pedantic. Yes, I realise the proper way to write it is 'two' but it's not like I used the 2 in place of 'to' or 'too'. :(
  • Hi! I'm American but I live in Scotland (near Glasgow). My husband (who is Scottish) and I are both geeks. He's a programmer, I do IT support/training for the NHS. We're both redditors and we also listen to Radio 4. I also own my own polymer clay supplies website. I mostly make jewellery and pens with polymer clay (Kato…
  • When I'm on the App on my phone (an Android phone) on the Daily Summary page it also has a Nutrient Summary. You have to scroll down, but it shows totals for all sorts of things, including fat, which is broken down into monounsaturated, saturated, and polyunsaturated. You might just need to scroll down!
  • Weight today: 149.5, down 3.2kg from my start weight, though only .6kg down from last Monday.
  • Mine's similar to yours, I want to go back to Cedar Point again. When I was a kid we used to drive from MI to OH to go to Cedar Point at least once in the summer and I really miss riding the rollercoasters! It will be a much bigger (and more expensive) trip these days since I live in Scotland now, but I'd like to show my…
  • Just posted this to another thread. This is a really nice dip that can be used for veggies or spread on Dutch Crispbakes, and it's lovely! Pink Salmon Spread 1 can pink salmon preferably wild 1 tablespoon pickle relish, drained ¼ cup minced celery 3 tbsp plain nonfat yogurt 1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice 1/3 tsp dried…
  • Munch on celery stalks. The crunchiness can help with munchies, and it's really low-cal. If you don't like celery alone, a really quick easy dip to make that's also low cal: Pink Salmon Spread 1 can pink salmon preferably wild 1 tablespoon pickle relish, drained ¼ cup minced celery 3 tbsp plain nonfat yogurt 1 tsp freshly…
  • My BMI is currently 57. My OH tried and tried to get me to do something about my weight, but every time he tried to tell me I couldn't have something, it just made me more determined to have it. Something along the lines of feeling like 'I'm an adult and nobody can tell me I can't have something'. I had to change my own…
  • Weigh in today: 150.1 , down 2.7 kg since last Monday!
  • A recipe from my diet book (The Alternate Day Diet) called Creamy Oats and Berries. You layer fruits (I'm using blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries because the store we shop at has these awesome packs with all 3 in one), with yogurt (non-fat natural greek yogurt). Do this twice, then top the yogurt with some…
  • Hi Becky, I'm pretty new too, I only joined on Sunday. I'm in the UK too, in Scotland. I love MFP too, it's so great to be able to scan foods using the Android app on my phone, makes entering things a lot quicker (unless it can't find the food). Feel free to add me if you want! Valerie
  • I just started my diet on Monday, starting weight was 152.8kg. I've already lost 4lbs/1.9 kilos this week. Currently at 150.6kg
  • Wow, I thought I was the only one who ever worried about whether I'd be squishing a stranger LOL. I have only flown a couple times without my huband so I do the same thing, if we're sitting in a 3 seat row, he goes in the middle and I take the aisle or window seat. Kinda sucks for him because he never gets the window seat…
  • Hi all, My husband Craig (CraigIW) and I just joined this week, and started our diet on Monday. We live in North Ayrshire, in Scotland. We've both lost nearly 2kg already! It all started about 2 weeks ago when Craig handed me a Reader's Digest and said 'I don't think you've read this one yet'. It was January's RD and he…
