I completely get the "he knows that I'm fat" thing. I have been waiting for my young children to talk to me about my weight the way that kids talked about it to me when I was in grade school. So far, it hasn't happened. I don't know what the magic answer is to getting 'it'. I struggle with that too. But part of it, for me,…

This is a great post and perfect for reinforcing what I already know, but need to keep reminding myself.

Some people feel better giving up processed foods (many of which contain wheat, and therefore gluten). It's calories that make the difference for weight loss, but cutting back on refined carbs can cut cravings which helps with weight loss that way.

Try other free online HIIT videos. Insanity is quite a bit harder, and just as motivating. Probably so is P90X, though I haven't done it. I can see where 30DS is a beginner video. It kills me, but I'm a beginner.

try looking at mediteranean diet cookbooks. Tons of fish recipes

I agree. You're probably just pushing yourself too hard, but get it checked just in case.

Sorry. I was thinking of exercise in the first line when I discussed MFP giving you back calories.
-
You will find that MFP gives you back a lot more calories than WW did. If you're used to the WW calculations, you will only want to eat back about 1/2 or less of what MFP gives you. Watch for that. Other than that, I would say just be careful that you don't slip into eating refined stuff (which points would slightly punish…

My husband quit (he LOVED smoking) with Champix. I think it's called chantix now? It's a 6 week program, which he didn't complete because he found he was dreaming in technicolor and it was making him too tired, but it got him over the initial cravings/difficulties.

I'm 46, so I get what you're saying there. It's a game changer. I don't think my good years are behind me or anything like that, but motivations are totally different! It's a different game entirely. Good luck with your journey.

I'm still figuring this out, but I do know that soy kills me. Although, I could drink organic GMO free soy milk, so it clearly is not as cut and dried as it looks. Try keeping a diary of what sets you off and look for patterns. I think that's the surest way to figure it out.

Well, that was unexpectedly fun.
-
Excellent! And hardly familiar.
-
Wow, doing great. Keep it up.
-
by the way, I love this advice.
-
Wow, what a great post this is. Nobody got snarky or rude. Actual sincere advice. How strange, and how helpful. Thank you for your posts. I'm in this boat--serious last supper thinking is making me fatter and fatter. I found it happened more after I read Intuitive Eating which is where I first heard the phrase Last supper…

Add some nuts. Healthy and calorie dense.
-
Wow! Bump. This is fabulous
-
start saving for a tummy tuck if it's only there.
-
I wish I could click on these and reply right underneath. (are you reading that MFP?). Thanks for the input. Keep'em coming. Very interesting. Boredom seems to be a biggy....

Ha! Good work!
-
Great idea. Just for today: Log what I eat!

Apparently I need to meditate on my success, because I can't even imagine losing 20 lbs by Christmas! Maybe that's a clue as to why I'm having a hard time getting going?

The polar loop now syncs with mfp. I prefer to use a heart rate monitor for exercise and skip the activity tracker altogether. I don't use enough of the features to make it worth it--really find plain jane pedometer is better for me.
-
It definitely can be tedious--especially if you cook from scratch a lot--how many servings? grrrr. But, it works and it puts you in control--worth it in the end.
-
Do classes if that's what works for you. Bodypump is great because it combines both cardio and weights. there are tons of awesome workouts online (check HIIT). "the best exercise is the one you'll do".
-
bump. inspiring for sure.

I have had the same information overload and become paralyzed at times. Throw GMO's and digestive issues into the mix, and it's very overwhelming. The best approach is one that you can sustain. That's the bottom line. Get calories under control, and the rest will follow.

salt, salt, salt. Don't let it beat you. I know how hard it is, but don't give up because of one number. I do the same thing, and where would I be if I just didn't give in to the mind games!?
