  • I finished Insanity in March this year, and am now on day 8 of Asylum: I LOVE IT! It has a very different feel to Insanity which you may or may not like; it is challenging but in a different way, the agility ladder is so much fun, though you will have a love/hate relationship with it! I actually look forward to each and…
  • Thanks for the heads up, think I'll sign up for this. Despite being a big fan of the online Yale and other itunes U courses I hadn't heard of 'coursera' until last week so I'm looking forward to trying it out :)
  • I saw an ad on the Beachbody site where they promised the taste for one of the flavours was soon going to be a 'million times better'. Or something like that. So OP I don't think you can be the *only* one who thinks Shakeology tastes like *kitten* if even the creators are putting stuff like that on their website ;)
  • Definitely second the 'Black Swan' vote. Pretentious dross. But pretty good as an out and out comedy.
  • Nando's has been serving a large portion of chips at 1241 cals (as advertised on their menu) for some time. Nobody seems to be getting their knickers in a twist about that. I guess it is just fashionable to criticize McDonalds.
  • You'd have to add it as cardio, however since I wear a HRM I have no idea how you would estimate it without a HRM since there are so many variables.
  • I'm not a clubbing person so I have no idea if Zumba would help me in a real life dance situation lol. but if you can't dance at all then zumba is definitely a good way to start feeling rhythms and learning the kind of bodily awareness that will improve the way you move. I have (had?!) two left feet, and so I started going…
  • The taste is really a personal thing: for me, soya milk tastes like watery cardboard, although I don't mind it *too* much in coffee. For alternatives, try rice milk for porridge (delicious!) and almond milk is lovely as well. Yesterday I discovered chocolate coconut milk (brand: Koko) which also works well as a hot…
  • It wasn't a question, it was a recommendation for a DVD. The absence of a ? in the thread title should have given most people the clue that she wasn't asking for advice. But then a small detail like that wouldn't stop most MFP posters from posting the same old rubbish.
  • Sh'bam (dancing) - it is the new love of my life :)
  • Yeah, and cheaper prices too. I cannot tolerate any dairy, but if other people want to give up dairy for a non-specific reason it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
  • I may be a freak of nature but my body actually improved when I stopped Insanity and went back to regular gym classes. I so missed doing my classes during Insanity and was really pleased to be able to go back to them. No question that Insanity totally raised my fitness levels to a degree which made even the toughest…
  • I really would not do the Fit Test and Max Interval Circuit on the same day, I think it is a mistake that they put these two on the same day, because if you are really giving 100% to the Fit Test then even going at 50% of the Interval Circuit is going to be pretty tough no matter how fit you are, and I wouldn't have got…
  • Love love love Les Mills! I did Insanity recently and whilst the fitness it gave me was incredible, giving up LM classes (well kind of, I still did occasional Combat) was just too much of a sacrifice. I do pretty much all the classes apart from Step and GRIT...however my new favourite is Sh'bam. There is so much jumping in…
  • You should be able to find it in Sainsbury's or Waitrose, although only the plain variety, I'll have to search for the chocolate stuff, sounds gorgeous! And I'm a recent convert to almond milk, so much nicer in regular tea or coffee than rice milk (which is nice in porridge).
  • Same here, and I know lots of people who also got it twice within a few weeks. Not fun. At times like this when you're out and about you realise just how few people actually cover their mouths when they are coughing, no wonder things keep going back and forth. OP and anyone else who has it hope you all feel better very…
  • Of course, because everyone finds the same things funny don't they.
  • Well said! And I don't see anyone actually mention that Body Pump is fun! I can't ever imagine having the same amount of fun doing few reps of compound lifts as I do in a Body Pump class. I've been doing Pump for several years now, and will never stop doing it because I ENJOY it. By the way, take no notice of those studies…
  • I do definitely. After spending the last year and a bit just loafing around in trainers, I had to wear medium heels for a business meeting and it was awful, I think I almost tripped up about 16 times in a 30 min walk, and my feet were not happy the next day. Really don't think it's a weight issue though, I'm at a very…
  • I have just discovered the wonders of sweet potatoes, and today quinoa. Another vote for asparagus too. Great thread!!
  • I think if you can get a HRM that is a good idea - because if I hadn't had one whilst doing Insanity I would have estimated my burned cals WAY higher than I actually expended, pretty disappointing when you are working at 150%!!
  • I cannot believe that I haven't included Himalayan sea salt and luo han guo in my diet all this time. My bad.
  • It's because group exercise classes are just so darn exciting. I love 'em!
  • Usually, except when I'm in my Sh'bam, Body Jam or other dance classes when I let my hair down in more ways than one lol
  • I think it would be fine to skip that workout - unless you are really out of shape it really isn't a great cardio workout (and as I do loads of dance fitness classes I find it pretty boring and repetitive) so I don't think you are missing out on anything with all the other cardio you do. I guess it is just there for people…
  • In Body Combat I usually burn around 530 for 45 min class and up to about 600 for the hour class. Body Pump varies a lot more, dependent on so many factors - largely I'm pretty inconsistent in my weights in Pump but I always go hell for leather in Combat.
  • I've heard this class mentioned before - since I always like trying new classes would be interested to hear about the structure of the class, is it like circuit training? Is done to music etc.? What kinds of exercises do you do?

  • Month 2 is far more fun than month 1. My favourite by a country mile is Max Interval Circuit. Least favourite was the Sports training one, which I thought I would LOVE having watched it through a couple of times before I started Insanity. But it wasn't fun at all, there were loads of things my poor weak triceps couldn't do…
  • I think the whole of Insanity is a wake up call, if you think you are fit then you do Insanity and you have to think again. There are no 'bad' results on the fit test, the numbers just tell you where you are currently at. If you are giving your all to the workouts then you will see most of the numbers shoot up, especially…
  • Ah very interesting, thanks for the heads up. The Insanity Fast and Furious is a pretty cool 20 min workout so maybe that was a tester for a longer series. In any case, am very excited to learn more about it.
