Ok so I lowered my weight today and got down lower for sure. Felt weird but I did feel like I was using more of my full body and just not my legs like before when I was not getting low enough. I also lowered the bar on my back Thanks for the feedback !

Me ! I like to prep early in the week and keep most of my meals the same What is your usual meals?

The longest I ever train run for a half is 10 miles so I think you will be fine.
-
Good post and advice!
-
Max I ever run training for a half is 10 miles. I would do minimum a 10 mile long run the weekend before and stick to one short run (3miles) early the week of Good Luck !

The longest training run I ever do for a half is 10 miles. When were you thinking of doing it? I would say print a Hal Higdon schedule and start at the 6 mile long run training week and you should be fine from there Good Luck !

Stronglifts !!

I was training for another 1/2 marathon recently why doing SL. I ran 3 day and took 1 total day off from running and lifting

I think I get your thought process here. You can do a isolated lifting program (like Live Fit) where you are lifting 5-6 days a week but not the same area's each workout OR You could do a compound lift program (Like Stronglifts 5x5) which is max 3 days a week (not in a row) that focuses on hitting more area's with the…

Thanks all, will lower the weight and try for better form. I can get my husband to video me when we go to the gym together next week

Currently I am at Session 17 / Week 6 Squat 100lbs BP 50 lb Row 55lb Deadlift 115lb OP 45lb (yes still) OP and BP are my worst but I just keep trying to get a good 5x5 before moving up

Stronglifts 5x5.....great compound lift program and the squats and deadlifts will help with those areas and more !
-
I am no expert but I do lift and just finished my 5th half. I would say especially for your first full training it would be alot for your body (an mind) to do both at the same time,at least for your first marathon. From what I am reading you have done a half before or is this your first? I would also like to add since you…

Looking good ! You can see a change for sure

You can do it ! I swore when starting to run I would never run more then 3 miles. Well I did my first 5K and the Broad Street 10 miler next in the same year. Then moved to half marathons....I just did my 5th two weeks ago
-
Good luck, I started running with C25K 3 years ago and now run half marathons. It is great to look for a running buddy. I am in Montco, Pa. You may want to check with a local running club anyway, they have people of all levels

Do you have access to the gym. If so try Stronglifts 5x5. Lifting heavy weights will tone and lower your body fat
-
Weight Training (for me I have been doing Stronglifts 5x5) always helps me gain a better pace when running
-
I was too but wondering if I will have better control with a shorter bar (especially on OHP)!

I guess I just see so many of the fitness women I follow who compete doing a 5-6 day program with great results, maybe I am feeling like I am cheating myself by only lifting 3x a week ??
