  • I lost almost 70lbs in under 6 months, along with my hair, due to extreme calorie & nutritional deficit. It took me a while to get back on track. Slow & steady wins the race! Good luck to you!
  • I make mine with carrots, celery, onions, garlic, apple cider vinegar, poblano peppers, jalapeno peppers and of course, CHICKEN FEET! I cook it on the stove top on low for 24 hours. It is so gelatinous that it looks like Jell-O when cooled. And tastes likes Chicken Caldo. I freeze into individual servings & drink it at…
  • I didn't realize that it was an old thread. I, myself, am trying to learn more about limiting sugar. That's all.
  • More power to you...have a great day!
  • I never said that I was a professional giving scientific advice. I don't remember the OP asking if there were any doctors on board that were willing to give them advice based on their proven scientific research. I have experience, that's all. I thought that's what these posts were all about...suggestions & advice. Again,…
  • No, I quit logging in my diary some time ago. I counted calories & points for 2 years. Again, what worked for me was to Eat Clean & eat until I was full. Success doesn't mean that you have logged every single morsel every day, follow the perfect macros, log exercise calories burned & swear by it, just because MFP has it…
  • Absolutely. It's been a long, bumpy road to my success. I have had to figure things out on my own. And I am still learning new things every day. OP, you'll find something that works for you.- don't give up.
  • I'm replacing the fruit snacking with jerky, turkey burgers & eggs. No calorie reduction. My body just doesn't seem to metabolize sugar like I want it to. I'm just saying that this is what works for me & I'm sticking to it. Under my doctors recommendation & supervision.
  • Nope, the only things I cut out of my diet was daily fruit & coconut sugar in my coffee. I have followed the Paleo lifestyle for the past 2.5 years & have managed to maintain my loss. I wanted to drop a few stubborn pounds around my mid section & while I know you can't spot reduce - the 13 lb loss has helped me get close.
  • I did the 21 Day Sugar Detox back in December & lost 13lbs. I have continued it religiously. My sugar sources are from my veggies, fruit is limited to 1-2 green bananas after hard workout & a square of 90% dark chocolate a couple times a week. I'm not restricting my sugar intake on purpose...I just don't crave it anymore.
  • Slow & steady wins the race :)
  • I have an addiction to mud runs! My overall training with my PT is what gets me through the race, placing top in my age group! Yes, no matter the flavor, the beer was the best...too bad I don't drink anymore. :#
  • I like Warner's No Muffin Top ones. Conservative, yet practical.
  • Oh, I dream about a big juicy cheeseburger & a couple of dressed Dos Equis, but the fear of the aftermath has kept me from indulging. I don't crave it, just fantasize! :p I have set some high goals for myself & this is working for me. :)
  • Probably the same way when people eat gluten & highly processed foods & it doesn't bother them. I've become very sensitive to all of it since eliminating it from my diet.
  • I think it's caffeine withdrawal. I gave up sodas 2.5 years ago. You are absolutely correct that your health will improve. Hang in there! I gave up caffeine, coffee, all sweeteners & gum back in December & feel fabulous. :)
  • I have a square of 90% dark chocolate if I need a treat. Sometimes with a spoon of almond butter. Ever since doing the 21dsd back in December, I don't crave sweets or "carbs".
  • After giving up all artificial sweeteners (Diet Soda / Crystal Light etc.) two years ago, my body cannot tolerate any of those anymore. They make me very ill. I drink herbal tea in the AM, water & Kombucha.
  • Hi there! Five years ago, I lost almost 70 lbs by diet & cardio (you know runners don't lift ;) ). After a year of maintaining, I decided to meet with a personal trainer & start lifting. Back then, I thought it was a compliment when he said "you really are small". No, I wasn't small, I was a walking bag of bones. :s Fast…
  • How about trying the 21dsd & see if you can live without any of the extra "sugars"? ;)
  • I agree with you. I gave up sweeteners (natural & otherwise, including fruit), along with caffeine, gum & alcohol in December. I have never felt or looked better, physically & mentally.
  • I lost almost 70lbs in 6 months. I started WW online (no meetings) and logged in every morsel that entered my mouth. I religiously stayed in my allowed points. I think already being a (slow) long distance runner & cyclist helped me lost that much weight that fast.
  • The 85% Paleo was when I allowed myself a cheat meal once a week, burger & a beer were my go-to's. I felt horrible after eating it, but I did it for the social reasons. I have been following Paleo strictly for the past 5 months because that way of eating is allowing me to reach physical goals that were being hindered by…
  • I lost almost 70 lbs in 8 months by counting calories & portion control & EXERCISE. No stimulants, no drugs, nothing except a lot of determination, dedication & will power.
  • I trust what my doctor says & follow her guidelines, which I cannot argue with since I feel great.
  • I have actually been on Paleo for quite some time now. I don't say that I can't have any of the "restrictive" foods - I choose not to eat them. Not for weight loss ( I lost 70lbs prior to Paleo), but for over all well-being. By doing the elimination diet, I found out how sensitive I was to gluten & dairy products.
  • Beans & Legumes contain anti-nutrients that prevent the absorption of vitamins & nutrients.
