I have had great results with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, aka SCD. You might see if your library has the book, "Breaking the Vicious Cycle", by Elaine Gottchall. There is also a website, just Google, "breaking the vicious cycle". Another great place to get information is from SCDLifestyle. They do have a program they…

@CornellGirl, I do not have celiac, but do have UC and I have trouble with most fruits, especially starchy ones. Even the fruits I can tolerate, I must eat only occasionally. Carrots are not my gut friends either. Hopefully, later when healed a bit more, I'll be able to tolerate them better. Are you familiar with SIBO…

Couldn't get past their constant use of unnecessary profanity in an attempt to drive their point home. It's one thing to use the shock value for the title, but I had a hard time taking the book seriously when it was littered with profanity. Didn't make it past the first chapter or two myself. But as others have said, to…

I've been eating SCD for the last couple of months. I did not start with the intro diet. I simply removed the "illegal" foods from my diet, collected multiple recipes and tested them. They are family approved, even the picky teen loves them. Now that I have enough recipes to work with I'm backing up and doing the intro,…

Just started eating this way about a week ago myself, and I believe you. I already feel lighter, and have a lot more energy! I recently bought The Idiots Guide to Plant Based Nutrition. I'll be glad to get through the learning curve. The adjustment has been challenging, but worth it.

It's Friday. You're young. Take that girlfriend out and get your booty dancing. As long as you don't down the beers you can burn a good portion if not all of the extra cals off.

I vote for this one!

Research soluble vs. insoluble fiber.

Have you tried altering habits before and during the workout to see if there are any changes? The first thing that comes to mind is possibly low blood sugar levels. For instance if you don't normally eat something have you tried to eat something light prior to workout? Or maybe other things can be tried if that doesn't…

I've worked out late before when I ate too many calories for the day and had no problems either. I guess it depends on if working out energizes you too much or not.

Oh...I like the "brush your teeth" idea.

This is the second post I've read about pizza attack in the last 5 minutes. Funny thing is...I just had Pappa Murphys pizza. I'm no help..sorry. :frown:

I'm sorry he was so thoughtless and hurt your feelings. In some situations a mindless remark is perceived in a way that was not intended. Especially if we are sensitive in the area being remarked on. I do not know what the intention of this man was, but I wonder if he purposely meant to hurt your feelings. Was it rude?…

You did nothing wrong. Your post was clear to anyone taking the time to read it fully. Don't sweat it...unless it will give you more calories for the day.

There was a post the other day in which the OP posted that they were tired all the time. One of the things suggested was to check iron intake. I'm frequently tired myself, so I changed my settings to show iron and noticed that I was seriously lacking in iron most days. My thyroid has already been tested. I now make sure to…

I have a fitness trampoline. and love it. It's a good workout and can be done in a fairly short amount of time if needed. At first my balance was pathetic. Now, my balance is improving as well as my stamina. The workouts can be light or intense. You can watch tv or put your favorite music on and bounce with the beat. I…

There are quite a few members who have gained weight this way. I'm one of these people. I typically ate once a day, not all days, but most (like 95% of the time). I started MFP just a few weeks ago. At first it was difficult getting in 1200 calories. I was not use to eating throughout the day nor that much. I would eat…

I agree with srp2011's observations. I have consistently noticed successful people who I look to for diet and exercise examples usually hit their calorie, protein (exceed most times), and water goals (exceed many times). Keeping sodium low is also a thought to avoid water retention (reaching water goals help with this…
