You should try the Couch 2 5k program. I think you can get the music downloads from www.coolrunnings.com and it outlines the program. Breaks you into running really slow.

Interesting thoughts. I may have to give that a try!

I am just starting over again after a rough year. Please feel free to add me as well!

I work from home, and I am just getting back to getting some activity in, so am just walking for now. I walk my son to the bus stop and then do my walk, which is easier, because I am already started. Hopefully, when I pick up some more rigorous activity, I will already have that spot in my day carved out.

Please count me in. This should be fun :) My current weight is 224, so my goal for 6 weeks will be 11 pounds for a goal weight of 213.

I just started "again" last week. I had a pretty great week overall, just hoping to keep it up. I would be happy to be your friend :flowerforyou:

Have you heard of geocaching? This is how my family got into hiking. We have friends who do it with a stroller, and for each one you do, it tells you if strollers are OK or not. Let me know if you want more info on it. My kids LOVE it! They can get bored if they are just hiking.

Sorry to be the bad guy, but the truth is, there are very few excuses for not exercising. I also have a full time (plus) job, a husband who is self-employed, so I cannot always count on him for help, two children, and a long commute. If your heath is important to you, you will find time to exercise. Find things to do that…

I should mention that I have a desk job, but exercise almost every day.

I don't think that sounds like too much. I had my Basil Metabolic Rate tested on a machine, and my height and weight are close to yours, and mine came in at 1665. I think MFP figures this number pretty low, and although the machine is not 100% accurate either, it should not be too far off. I eat at least my 1665, and…

Have you cleaned the chest strap lately? Mine was not working well, and then I scrubbed it down real well, and then it worked fine. Also, have you changed your batteries lately? Your battery in your chest strap may be low.

Nice going! I am having pizza tonight. Check out the Chicken Pesto Pizza recipe on eatbetteramerica.com. It is my family's favorites. No more of the greasy stuff! Yuck!

I am the same way. I now eat 6 small meals a day. I am eating about every 2-3 hours. That way, if I get hungry shortly after eating a meal, that is OK, because the next one is right around the corner! I am taking a class on increasong metabolism, and was told if you include a carb and a protein in each meal, the carb will…

I like your profile pic! Is that Multnomah Falls? If you live near there, you could hike up Beacon Rock on the other side of the gorge. We did this last summer, and it was so amazing! I could really feel it in my butt when I was done!

I do a "cheat meal" instead of a whole day. That way, I can still endulge once a week without possibly throwing off an entire week by going overboard. I think denying yourself completely can lead to binging later on. Also, I have been working so hard and eating so well the past 6 weeks, but have hardly lost any weight. I…

I would eat more than 199 calories. I think it takes your body about 600 calories to regenerate the blood you give, so you want to make sure to keep your energy up, especially if you are excercising. Drink a few extra glasses of water also.

I did weight watchers, and basically one point is 70 calories (it will be less if it has high fat content, or can be up to 100 calories per point if it is high in fiber). I ate tons of fiber so I could eat more food, but I think it took me way high on my calories. I eat much healthier here, because I do not get "credit"…

Have you tried Overeaters Anonymous? I have not attended, but my BFF attended for years, diligently, and it took a long time, but she finally lost about 130 pounds last year, and her inspiration was OA meetings. She truly had a food addiction, and she needed treatment as an addiction in order to kick it.

The Firm videos are really good for working in both strength and cardio.

If you eat 300 calorie meals every 3 hours, and each includes a protein and a carb, the carb will satisfy you in the short term, and the protein will satisfy you in the long term. I have been doing this for over a month, and I stay full, until just about exactly 3 hours, and then I am suddenly hungry. I could set my watch…

I would be glad to be a "loser" with you. I have been doing this for about 6 weeks. I started a program at my local YMCA called Metabolism Makeover, and it has been great for me. I have only lost a few pounds, but feel so much stronger, am better hydrated, etc. I have measurements, which will be the real test, on Monday. I…

I have the Polar F6 and I love mine. I don't know what other HRMs do this, but mine reads on the machines at the gym without setting up any kind of connection......it just shows up :) The best price I have found is at www.heartratemonitorsusa.com. They are $89. Use either coupon code polar or 0501 for an extra 10% discount!

Welcome! I recently joined also, and I am participating in a program at my local Y for weight loss. I have not really done any posting yet. I have lost weight before but always hit a brick wall! I am feeling really good on the food program I am doing, which is geared towards increasing metabolism, so hopefully this time it…
