  • Sometimes the biggest hurdle to overcome is the tiny voice in the back of our mind saying that we can't do something. Let your actions silence that voice :)
  • Some recent NSVs for me --Doing full-body pushups (have been only doing the knee-support kind previously) --Not only running a 5K, but beating my previous time by 5 minutes! Yay! <3
  • Depends on how small it is. If push comes to shove and you can't lose the weight in time, you can always have it altered. Maybe.
  • I grew up eating Lunchables and a not-actually-milk milkshake for most of Kindergarten, and that was it. No apple or celery for a snack, no carrots or salad, nothing else. Would you call that healthy? Would you talk to my parents face to face about how you disapproved of their food choices for their child? Or would you…
  • Chocolate *kitten* Jesus...a genocide! Against the flu virus maybe.
  • It sounds silly, but if you can afford it (or already have one) get a Wii Fit. The exercises aren't incredibly intense (although you can make them a little tougher) but I've found that the tracker inside and the long-term goal-setting and monitoring are actually pretty helpful. That being said, there are a lot of resources…
  • I get between 9,000 to 13,000. The most I've ever done was about 16,000. Real helpful post there.
  • Wow, it's been forever since I've had mashed potatoes. Does the cauliflower have a really...um...apple-sauce like texture? I like cauliflower, but I don't think I could do with that kind of texture.
  • To be honest, I've had the Fitbit Flex for a year now, and while I like it, I think I'm going to jump ship to the Jawbone Up3 for superficial reasons. The fitbit, as useful as it is, is ugly as hell. You can spend money to get the nice sleeves and better bracelets, but I think I'll try the Jawbone on for size.
  • My boyfriend has had some success with weight watchers. If anything, it teaches you to look closely at the labels and monitor your intake. I never tried it personally, but can guarantee that I wouldn't like it. :/
  • My boyfriend was able to lose weight just by cutting calories. I prefer to get active in addition to cutting calories, but he did (still does) not want to exercise. When we would go to the gym, he'd be ready to call it done after a half an hour, when I'd typically be in for another 40 minutes. He'd get frustrated, the…
  • I go straight from work to the gym. Because I know that after a long day of work (1830-0300), the moment I walk through the door, I will not want to leave. Other days, I wake up and straight away put my running clothes on and head out to the trail for a run. I get home with enough time to shower and get ready for work.…
  • Plain and simple traditional turkey dinner. We accidentally cooked one upside down one year, and it was so juicy and delicious, we've had turkey for dinner at Xmas ever since.
  • I log daily, but I'm not always talkative on the boards or news feed. But if you're looking for a friend, you can add me!
  • Elton John: Rocket Man. Radio in the office helps drown out the Christmas music
  • Unsolicited advice, people who have a 'one size fits all' mentality. Oh, that person lost weight by cutting out [whatever], you can too! Also people who think a legit substitute for soda is a lemon or lime in water. Pardon me, but that *kitten* tastes terrible and definitely is not the same as a soda. Thanks for the…
  • Some people don't like Crystal Light because of the artificial sweeteners. I find that it helps if you're one of those people who just don't like drinking plain water all the time. If you're substituting Crystal Light for something like soda, then I couldn't see a problem.
  • Nope, it just popped back on ;D
  • I got a little too excited and my foot came off of an elipitcal. I fell forward onto the terminal. Luckily no one else was there ;D
  • Money. Those bills don't pay themselves. Plus, I'd like to be able to actually give something to my family this year other than a couple of lottery tickets. :\
  • You need to see a doctor. I know it sucks because you are between health insurance companies, but if you are logging correctly and working out that much, you should be losing weight under normal circumstances. It may not be trivial at all, you could have a condition that needs treatment.
  • You guys all have such interesting screen names. Mine is my first initial with my last name and the number 676. It's also my twitter handle. I'm fun, huh?
  • Understand that it's going to suck at first. You're going to have days where you don't want to do anything. You'll probably hate it - there are a lot of people like that. I'm like that sometimes. But here are some of the methods I've used to get my *kitten* in gear. 1. Take my gym clothes with me to work - I have no…
  • If one day is going to throw you completely off track, then I suggest you perfect the "no thanks, I'm on a diet" speech. I'd like to think that I can splurge for a day or so and not completely lose all my progress. I mean there's only so much a person can eat before they explode, right? If it's a bunch of parties you're…
  • I use them too. I think the complaint that many people have with them is that it's not all natural. These people are obviously the types who are like "Just cut up a lemon or a lime and some whatevers and toss that into your water for a refreshing bit of blaaaah." I have a hard time drinking just plain water unless I'm…
  • I use truvia in my shakes and coffee. I imagine that getting used to the taste is like getting used to the taste of aspartame in diet sodas. Takes a while, but if you don't like it, don't use it.
  • If I'm running, and I feel like I'm just dragging my behind, I tell myself that I can do it. Because I've done it before. If I'm trying to push myself a little harder, I kind of talk myself through it, like "Come on, you can do this, it's not so bad!" Sometimes easier said than done.
  • You probably shouldn't run with shin splints. A minor pain now may turn into a major pain tomorrow. I was suggested a compression sleeve for my leg due to a nasty shin splint in a rather unusual place on the leg. I've always had to rest it though.
  • If you don't care about losing your period or if your diet is grossly unhealthy, then why ask the *kitten* question? Either you made the image post yourself or you looked it up on a pro-ana website. And yes, *anything* on a pro-ana website that has to do with diet/food promotes anorexic behaviour. You know what you're…
