Peanut butter is the one thing Carver didn't invent, peanut wise.

May I ask where you got all these random numbers from? Besides pulling them out of your *kitten*?

You weigh more than her, therefore you burn more calories than her.

If it's actually making you ill, see a doctor. Going several hours without eating shouldn't cause illness (it's how humans have survived for thousands of years.) It could be a sign of something serious going down.

Um, no. When in a calorie deficit the body burns fat to make up the difference. Protein catabolism is a rather complex, difficult process, so the body doesn't go to that until it needs to, which is either when the body doesn't have enough stored fat to support the deficit, when the body has burned all the fat it is capable…

False. Calorie deficit empties adipocytes, regardless of macro ratio. The only reason people seem to think keto diets burn more fat is because there's a mental disconnect where they don't pay attention to the fact that they are consuming such a high level of fat, which the body digests before turning to fat stores. With a…

At the risk of sounding mean, 12 pounds in 2 weeks would pretty much be water weight if you cut carbs low enough to get into ketosis. FAT loss is all about the calorie deficit, and if you're counting fat, protein, and carbs, you're still counting calories, that's essentially a semantic argument, like saying I can't run 3.1…

So, everyone else should read from a wide variety of viewpoints, but you can instantly dismiss all other viewpoints? Alan Aragon's blog is fantastic, the man has advanced degrees in human nutrition and is a published author in peer reviewed journals. He's not just trying to sell a book, he's trying to educate. If you…

Can't spot reduce, fat loss is determined by genetics.

Shouldn't the 3 balls of fire be your motivation?

Losing weight is about calories. "Healthy eating" is generally a meaningless gimmick. Eat what you want, just stick to a calorie goal. It's really that simple.
-
If you can't go more than a couple hours without going to the bathroom, you're either drinking way too much water, or you have a relatively serious medical issue. Drink when you're thirsty, stop when you aren't. It's really not that complicated.

Water retention.

It does not slow down your metabolism, that's ridiculous. It processes the alcohol first, then the food after, sure, but your liver is processing the alcohol while your food is still digesting in your stomach. It has no effect on metabolism, because your metabolism isn't determined based on the order that your body digests…

Is there a specific reason you have to stop? Nothing wrong with a drink or two.

To use your logic, wouldn't a better approach be to teach someone what an appropriate portion is, rather than tell them the food is "empty calories" and should be avoided? If they read this list and stop eating pizza because it's empty, they still won't learn what an appropriate portion for pizza is. Rather than focusing…

Place your hands on the seat of the chair, feet on the floor. It's a transitional step from doing them against the wall to doing them on the floor. Anything that elevates your upper body off the floor will make push-ups easier, then you move progressively lower as you get stronger, and can even eventually elevate your feet…

Doctor said her metabolism is fine...

Push-ups, they don't require anything but a wall (to start,) a chair (when you get a little stronger,) or a floor.

I lost 60 pounds while eating entire pints of ice cream at a time. Set your protein and fat goals, fill the rest of your calorie goal with carbs, then choose the foods you enjoy that fit into your goal. There's no need to arbitrarily restrict anything out of your diet, unless you have a specific medical condition that…

Total myth. No limit on eggs. No limit on any foods, really, carbs included. As long as you have adequate fat and protein intake, and stick to an appropriate calorie goal, you can basically eat anything you enjoy. People try to force too many unnecessary limitations on themselves.
-
Yep, this. They do absolutely nothing.
-
Myth. There's actually a very simple estimate. If you're thirsty, drink. If you aren't, don't. No math needed.

Oh, what the heck. I haven't been in a good train wreck thread in a while...

Uhhh, what? To feed a family you'll be lucky to get meat for $12, and no way that would last a week. I seriously need to find out where you people shop, because other than scraps, I don't see any good meat in stores for under $5 a pound, and good luck feeding a family of 4 or 5 with only a pound of meat for a week...

Explain what exactly is so bad about refined sugar for your health? And please don't say insulin, because contrary to the post you quoted, insulin does not store sugar as fat (it does transport sugar to muscle tissue as glycogen, and to the liver, and it's a major appetite suppressing hormone, and it regulates muscle…

Do yourself a favor. Google "the Twinkie diet." Read and learn. Being overweight is the single biggest issue for poor health, and the single biggest cause for most health issues. The foods you eat have very little effect on over all health, provided you get at least the minimum of required nutrients (which isn't an issue…

"My doctor says I'm fine, but the INTERNET says I'm not." Who needs medical doctors and exams, when obviously Google is so much more accurate.

It's very simple. The weight forecaster is just a math formula. It takes the calculated deficit from today, divides by 100, then subtracts your current weight.* So it will be different every day, based on exactly how much you eat. *Don't know if that's the exact formula they use, but it's the simplest one I could think of.
