Skiing while obese
To celebrate my next mini-goal of 224 lbs I would like to try skiing. I'm about 40 minutes from Tahoe and feel like I'm missing out on a great opportunity. I was wondering if there are any sort of weight or size limits when it comes to equipment I would be renting. I did a Google search and mostly came up with people…

Does eyesight improve with weight loss?
I experienced something odd today. I've had a mild astigmatism since my first eye exam as a teenager, but didn't need glasses until my 30's, which was also when I started gaining weight. I was also told when I got my glasses that I was nearsighted. I just wear my glasses for driving and shopping, because I see fine unless…

A simple lower body focused program
I'm getting back into lifting after a break and trying to figure out what program to run. I liked the results of Strong Curves, but felt it had too many exercises and didn't enjoy the high reps. I looked through the thread with all the links to programs but didn't see anything I wanted to try. Any suggestions?

I don't like lifting, but love the results. Advice?
The title explains my dilemma. I did Stronglifts for six months and am finishing the Strong Curves beginner program this week. I'm not sure where to go from here. I don't want to lift weights, but I want to look like I do. I like the way the strength helps me in my other activities. Are there any fun alternatives to…

Cool cardio
I live in a fairly cool climate, but these past weeks have gotten unbearable and my walking and cycling activity has fallen off. I don't belong to a gym, and don't really enjoy anything stationary anyways. I have discovered a free place to swim in town, but it's not giving me the same calorie burns I'm used to eating back.…

It's thigh sucking shorts season. Help.
I've decided to stick with running for once into spring, maybe even into summer. The shorts though, it's just not working out. I was wearing tights or capris all winter, felt great. Now I'm trying to find comfortable shorts to run in. First, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I can't run in anything with just an…

Might get a new activity tracker
I'm thinking of upgrading my two year old Vivoactive, and I'm seeing activity trackers have added some interesting new features since then, and I'm wondering how useful they are. First, the wrist heart rate monitors. I usually wear a chest strap when I run and cycle, unless I forget it. Does this wrist HRM replace a chest…

I didn't know my city was so pedestrian friendly
The roads were too icy to go to work, but I got my run in no problem.

Things you shouldn't juice
I got tired of lumpy protein shakes and finally bought a blender that destroys all solid foods. I also found it awesome for turning that giant bag of mandarins we bought at Costco into easily gulped down juice. So, as a gardener I'm thinking this is a good way to use up surplus produce. Then I was thinking there are things…

High-Protein Hot Breakfast Ideas?
With it being below freezing every morning I've completely lost interest in my usual Greek yogurt with PB and berries. I have plenty of time to cook, but what?

Walking into winter
I moved to Reno, NV this summer after spending all of my 35 years in the warmth of Las Vegas. I have been walking 3 miles everyday for the past month and would like to continue walking as the temperatures plummet and we enter the wet season. I am looking for advice on keeping warm and dry from those of you who walk in the…
