Let's Do This....Again
Today is my 46th birthday...oh my! Am I really that old? So, as a birthday present to myself, I'm here again trying to loose the 50 pounds that I've gained in the last 6 or so years. I took this journey once before and I had success in losing the weight, getting healthy and feeling better. I found myself faced with a lot…

Advice/Suggestions??
About 4 years ago I lost right at 40 pounds and I couldn't have been happier. I found myself with a lot of stress and began noticing the weight starting to creep back up. In February of this year I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder thus was put on medication to help with the anxiety. The medicine causes a…

My Wow Moment!
Three weeks ago I started a new teaching job - I haven't had a lot of time just to mingle and talk until this morning. At our school we have foster grandparents who come in and help out during the day. I've been trying to lose weight and it is slowly coming off but I've not put in a lot of effort to lose like I should.…

I'm back --- AGAIN!!!
I've been married for 25 years, I have 2 children, and after being a classroom teacher for 2 years I find myself unemployed. Being unemployed, I'm home where the food is available 24/7 - which is not a good thing. About 5 years ago I lost 40 +/- pounds and I reached my goal weight that I had set. I felt great physically,…

Doing this again
On February 27, 2009, I joined myfitnesspal for the very first time. At that point in my life I weighed somewhere around 165 pounds, which is a lot of weight for a 5 foot woman to carry around. I successfully lost 45 pounds by using this site and faithfully logging my food and exercise  But then I got a full time job…

I'm Back and Needing Motivation---Desperately!!!
On October 25, 2009, I reached my goal weight. Yay, me!!! Here it is January 5, 2011 and I find that I have gained back at least 14 of the 45 pounds that I lost. I know that may not seem like a lot to most of you, but being 5'0 ft and a 1/4" tall doesn't help things. All my clothes are fitting tighter, my rings are tight…

Couldn't help but smile when...
I was at a doctor's appointment today and when the nurse called me in the first thing she did was tell me to step on the scales. I proceeded to set my purse down and emptied a set of keys from my pocket. I told her every little bit helps. I stepped on the scales and she said, "Yeah, every little bit helps, like you need…

Just have to share
I began my weight loss journey in February of this year. Since then I have lost 41 pounds!!! I have gone from wearing a size 14/16 to wearing a size 4/6 in clothes. I recently took my "fat wedding ring set" to have it resized and I have gone from wearing a size 7 1/2 to a size 5 1/2 for the solitaire and a size 8 to a size…

I need help
understanding my polar HRM. After doing the ownzone before exercise, it will give me, for example, a range of 126-161 for my heart rate zone. Then after 25 minutes of exercise and reaching 200 calories burned, it will change the maximum heart rate zone to 143. Why does it do this?

Yay for me!!!
First of all, the battery on my cordless telephone downstairs went dead so I put it on the charger. As soon as I did my phone rang, so I ran upstairs to get the phone in my bedroom. After running upstairs and grabbing the phone, I noticed that I wasn't out of breath nor was I breathing hard. It felt GOOD!!! Before…

Polar F11 Pink Fizz Women's HRM...
Do any of you have this HRM in particular? How accurate is it? Is the watch bulky? Is it difficult to set up? Any answers to the above questions and any suggestions would be appreciated. I had a Reebok HRM (cheap and not worth the money) :grumble: and the thing has torn up :explode: (it only lasted four or five months) I…

HRM Question
Does anybody else use a Reebok Precision Trainer XT Heart Rate Monitor with Chest Strap? If so, have you ever had this problem: The monitor has been working great, then all of a sudden while using the monitor as I am working out on the elliptical the heart rate will go to 0 (obviously, I'm not dead  ) It's as if I…

Another Wii question
Hey everybody, I just got a Wii for Mother's Day and I got the Wii Fit as well. My question is, does the Wii tell you how many calories you have burnt and, if so, where do I go to find it? After completing Hula Hoop it said it was a calorie torcher, but it didn't tell me how many calories I burned. Is the Wii compatible…

Should I....
keep a job that is making me miserable? I do homebound teaching for a fourth grade student and I feel like I am being caught in the middle. The child tells me one thing, his mom another thing and it's causing a lot of problems. For instance, the child told me he was ready to take a test, I gave it to him, he made a 0, and…

Not sure if this goes here, but...
Do any of you ladies know what type of sports bra I should buy that can be supportive when jogging/running? Unfortunately, I'm not one of these little on top women and I find it very hard to find a good sports bra. Thanks!

Frustrated with my HRM
I know this has probably been talked about before, but please bear with me.....I don't understand what is going on with my HRM. I have the Reebok Precision XT HRM and when I exercise on the elliptical, the elliptical shows me to have burned 239 cal. My HRM shows me to only burn 159 cal...Why the big difference? I've seen…

Shopping is so much fun...
when you can shop for smaller sizes. I went to the mall over the weekend and, even though I didn't buy a new outfit, it was still fun shopping for a smaller size. I am normally buying a size 14 skirt. After losing 16 pounds, I was able to put on a size 8 skirt. :noway: :drinker: I was so excited and my motivation shot…

Slowly but Surely
I am dropping a pound a week and I am losing a 1/4 inch off my hips each week. My frustration, though, is that I'm not losing anything from my waist or my bust line. :grumble: Any suggestions on how to get the tape measure to "move"? I've started doing crunches and I'm using 3 pound weights when I do my power mile…

I'm so FRUSTRATED right now
A little bit lengthy... Okay, so everybody thought this was going to be one of those threads where I'm complaining about not seeing the scales move or not losing. Well, it' s not. This is a different kind of frustration. First of all, I'm not trying to lose weight to be in competition with anybody else, I'm not doing it so…

Question...
I'm not very good right now at knowing what is considered to be cardio and what is considered to be strength training. I have stairs in my house and I will walk up and down 5 times each rep. Is this considered to be cardio, it does get my heart pumping, or would it be considered strength training, I am using the muscles in…

I just couldn't believe it....
I stepped on the scales this morning and I have lost 7 pounds this week!!!:noway: I couldn't believe it. I got off the scales and then I re-weighed myself and there it was...7 pounds lighter. Need help...
Tonight, being Tuesday, my church had a dinner and we fed some college students who were in the area doing good Samaritan jobs for those less fortunate. At the dinner, there was this desert that had crumbled up Angel food cake, with French vanilla pudding and strawberry slices on top. Does anybody know what this recipe is…

One small step
Today I weighed myself and I have lost a pound in one week's time. This discouraged me and I thought why am I doing this for nothing. I had really cut back on the "junk" food I was eating and I was drinking tons of water, so I thought the weight reduction would be greater. However, when I took my measurements, my…
