Green almond calories
I can't find nutritional info anywhere. Many sources say they're the same as regular roasted almonds but this can't be right, maybe they mean the kernel (white) part? I eat the green shell as well. Fresh almonds have a much higher moisture level so they can't have the same caloric density. The shape and consistency is…

Is this trap strain? And what to do?
My sister does crossfit. She came home today with neck pain. The pain is on one side from the upper back side of the shoulder up to the neck. She feels pain if she tries to lean her head towards (not away from) the affected muscle and has no problem leaning her head to the other side. Is there anything I can do to help her?

Decent but inexpensive wireless noise cancelling earphones?
I love my earphones and I absolutely wouldn't replace them for exercise (I love that they stay put and let ambient noise in). My problem is, I can't use them when I vacuum without raising the volume so high it hurts, and the stationary bike gets screechy on higher resistances. I'm looking for something with decent noise…

Keto meal planning question
My sister does well on low carb and she is at it again. I'm not joining her this time, but I'm trying to help her plan her meals because she is busy. Here is what I arrived at so far (will be adding more fat for calories): These are the recipes: Mushrooms (5.3 net carbs):…

What are these salad leaves?
Recently bought these because I got curious and I enjoyed them a lot. I want to know what to ask for when I go looking for them again.

Women wearing men's running shoes?
I have wide feet and finding shoes that fit can be a pain. Even brands I know have a wide option don't always have that in stock. I thought maybe men's running shoes run a bit wider in normal sizes? Do they? Are there differences other than the colors? I tried Altras because they have a wide toe box in normal sizes but did…

Does anyone know what this is and how to log it?
My sister received this as a gift. I don't know what it is and the writing is in Persian so I can't read it. It looks like something fried with pistachios. I could log it as pistachios and move on, but I'm curious if anyone knows what it is.

To what length have you gone to count calories?
I had a dream about my grandmother today. I remembered how every morning, a few women from the neighborhood would gather at my grandmother's and drink tea. I felt special because in addition to tea I got these biscotti-like cookies. She would arrange them in a plate for me, sprinkle some dried milk on top then pour the tea…

Nutritional Yeast Substitute
So I'm planning to make seitan. Those who know me on here know that I'm not a big fan of meat. I'm getting sick of chicken, and I remember eating seitan and liking it better than meat. I found vital wheat gluten by chance yesterday. It's a rare find, so I bought it right away. I looked at all kinds of recipes, even…

Wireless earphones with great battery life
I'm sick of my Jabra Sports. They're secure and fit great with a variety of earbuds, but the battery life is atrocious. Lucky to make it to 3.5 hours before it needs charging again, which in my case means every other day, sometimes daily charging and forget about longer hikes. I'm looking for a decent replacement. My only…

Fitbit Zip/One vs Fitbit Alta
For those who had the clip-on and upgraded to Alta, how does it generally compare in terms of calories for the same average daily activity? I'm asking because I'm considering the Alta for the call notifications function, but unsure how calories compare and in what direction I should expect the burn to change.

Find what works for you: why I hate conventional strength training
So after a long while of taking it easy, only doing enough to maintain strength or only very slowly increase it, I finally decided to buckle down and work on developing my strength with a conventional 3 days a week 40 minute full body routine. After all people seem to to be thriving on these, and being well rounded in…

Advice needed making protein ice cream
I have an ice cream maker and make my own ice cream regularly. I usually make the cooked custard variety: 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup of milk, 4 egg yolks, 150 g of sugar, whatever flavoring I want, whatever mix ins I want. I've decided to try and use protein powder as a flavoring since my new protein powder tastes great,…

Resistance training DVDs for the absolute beginner
A friend of mine is just starting and wishes to incorporate some strength into her routine. I do YAYOG but she didn't like it and wants something more structured with a full length workout DVD. She attempted Jillian Michael's Body Revolution but found it too challenging. She is very obese so fast paced DVDs are not a good…

How do I log this?
It looks like a round cucumber. Do I log it like a cucumber? Does it have a name in English? I believe it may be a cross between a cucumber plant and another cucurbit. It tastes exactly like a cucumber, the seeds are soft like slightly overgrown cucumber seeds but the outer layer is slightly harder and is a little bit…

Running pants/tights/crops for very hot weather that you can buy online
Summer is approaching, and I heard it's going to be a hot one here. I'm looking for something that would help me pull through the hot days. Any activewear experience with very hot weather, over 40 degrees (104 fahrenheit)? I'm good on tanks, so I'm only looking for pants. I like looser pants because they feel more airy,…

Roasted Mushrooms
Just made these and they are AMAZING!! I just had to share. I don't believe this particular recipe would handle a large reduction in butter well. I reduced the amount to 20 grams (instead of 28) for 2 servings and when they were done there was barely a glaze so I can't imagine less butter would work. It doesn't matter…

Regarding "Fun and Games" forum
I've just noticed the appearance of a new forum "Fun and Games". I had the chit chat forum blocked because it spammed my recent discussions with topics I had no interest in. It appears those topics were moved to "Fun and Games", so that's definitely is going to get blocked. My question: If someone has "Chit Chat"…

Is there a calorie burning "plateau"?
I came across an interesting article. It suggests that increasing habitual physical activity beyond a certain point does not show a linear relationship with calorie expenditure, and that after a certain point the body starts reducing the calories burned by other mechanisms to conserve energy. What does this mean for…

What to do with brussel sprouts?
So I've bought a pound of brussel sprouts yesterday to try them for the first time. They're very expensive here (about $12 a pound) so I have never had them before. Curiosity finally won and I ended up buying a bag. What are some of your absolute best brussel sprout recipes? Calories are not an issue, I have a 2300 calorie…

Homemade Electrolyte Drink?
What is usually in these commercial sports drinks? I will need to water fast for 72 hours for a test and my electrolytes tend to be problematic. I have no access to commercial sports drinks, and want something to supplement them once the fast is over because I know from experience that food alone doesn't do the job well.
