ATS
I found when I was doing Fat Chance style ATS that I would get very toned down the right side of my body, but my left would be a little bit wimpy in comparison. Does anyone else find this? I'm hoping to learn Black Sheep style tribal belly dance at the start of September from Kajira herself, perhaps that will even out the…

Wrestling
I'm a little nervous of posting this in the main forums, because those non geeks can be pretty harsh... Anyone here like watching pro wrestling? I think it's a pretty geeky thing to be into, as they've got back stories to follow, feuds that are fairly nonsensical, on the whole it's scripted and follows a pre determined…

possibly the only geek here that doesn't like zombies
I hate zombies. They scare the crap outta me. I can't even watch my husband play Resident Evil. I guess my imagination is too good, but come the zombie apocalypse, I'm gonna be the one taking the overdose. Surely I can't be the only hater here?

Tortoises
Does anyone out there have a tortoise or two? I'm looking for tips for looking after them, as it looks like my husband and I are going to be taking on his brother's tortoises (new arrival in the family means the torties are coming our way!).

Battlestar Galactica online
Is it any good? I'm a newcomer to Battlestar Galactica, have watched the first season of the new version of it, and have started on the second season, and I'm enjoying it. I've also played the board game, which makes more sense now I've watched some of the show. Just wondering if there were any decent video/computer games…

Stress
How do you guys cope with stress? I must confess I don't cope with it very well. Today for example has seen me lurching between apopleptic rage  (broken pencils, shredded stress ball) and pathetic resignation :indifferent: (sitting blankly at my desk looking but not seeing), with a good dose of panic  in between…

Board games?
Anyone out there like a good board game from time to time? My personal favourite is Arkham Horror and whatever hellishly hard expansion pack we decide to play with it. I have got a real soft spot for old board games like Space Crusade and Hero Quest.

When the stupid hits...
Had a real bimbo moment this morning. We ran out of money last week, and ferret food ran out yesterday, so we had to top up the bowl with some cat kibble (sorry ferrets!!). I went up the pet shop this morning, but forgot I'd left my debit card in the drawer so I couldn't use it. I ended up being unable to buy any ferret…

Park Run to Cambourne 10k to Birmingham Half - in a year?
So, is it unreasonable to start running in January from virtually nothing and expect to be able to run the Birmingham half marathon later this year? My plan is as such: Couch 2 5 k training, already started Park Runs, starting 28 January and as often as I can make it Cambourne 10k, 15 April Birmingham Half, 21…

happy new year
Happy new year everyone! Had a bit of a stressful start to the new year with car trouble yesterday - started losing my headlights at night in the pouring rain, which was scary, however I was fortunate enough to find a mechanic today who managed to solve the problem for free!! Let's hope that this is a herald for 2012

Ferret owners
What inspired you to share your lives with these delightful furry maniacs? I live with two ferrets who are complete mentalists, and we kinda ended up with them through a crazy set of chances and a chap at the hospital I work at who was giving them away because his landlord complained... No denying they can be hard work,…

christmas
Christmas, no doubt about it, is a very stressful time of year. Lots of demands on your time, lots of people to go and see and worst of all, so much financial expenditure. Make sure you all look after yourselves this festive season - remember, your health comes first folks!

Cambourne 10k
Anyone else planning to do this run in April 2012? I will be - have signed up and everything. Now I just need to start training!

How are you feeling?
So often when we're ill, we get asked "how are you feeling" by well meaning friends. But because we are who we are, we fob them off with "fine", "ok", etc. I don't know about you, but I was forever pushing people away when I was badly ill because I didn't want them to have to get mired down with my problems. So honestly,…

Last year's trousers (NSV)
So, last year my mother bought me a pair of size 16 (UK) trousers for christmas, and to my horror, I couldn't do them up. I kept them, and last night I found them in the cupboard. Out of curiosity I put them on, and to my delight I was able to zip them up and do up all the other bits too. They weren't a comfortable fit, as…

What motivates you?
What keeps you doing what you do? On those cold dark mornings, what gets your warm sleepy body out of that comfy bed and working out/jogging in the dark/down the gym? This morning I was full of good intentions to go to the gym, and 7am rolled round, I sat up and the husband was like "don't go", so I lay down and slept for…

A little rant!
What's bugging you this afternoon? Nothing major, just something that's irritating you a bit. Mine is this. No matter how nice this weather, no matter how chilled out I feel, it still really annoys me when I see bikers and moped riders riding around without their protective clothing on. The sun doesn't make your skin any…

Walking challenge at work
At work I'm on a consultation group for a walkathon/runathon challenge that is being launched on Monday. It's a team challenge, max 10 people per team, to try and log 2,012 miles by 31 December 2011. That's three months to walk, run, swim, row or ride 2,012miles between all the members of the team. Outside of work mileage…

Fat pants no more
So, last night out of curiosity, I discovered I could take my trousers off without undoing the buttons! Three months ago these were my fat pants, the only ones that fitted me and even then I was getting a little uncomfortable around the middle. :D Now what did I do with those smaller trousers??

arm/wrist strengthening exercises
Whilst trying to do my yoga dvd this weekend, I notice I've got absolutely no strength in my arms or wrists when doing certain moves. Has anyone got any useful tips for how I could work on my weedy arms please?

greetings
Hello all. Newbie here. I have been lurking for about a week and thought it was time to say hi. I'm from the UK, Birmingham to be exact, and this is the first time in my life i've tried to follow any kind of diet/exercise programme. I've been a member of gyms before now, and I've done some fairly hard hitting sports in the…
