The Five-Letter Game
Here's the premise...The first person gives 5 random letters. The next person makes a sentence out of those letters and then gives the next person 5 letters, etc. E.g., I give the letters H A P P Y and you make a sentence out of those letters like "Having a pretty perfect year." and then you give the next person their…

NM'isms & NM Memories
Jim's 8 Guiding Truths 1. Balancing calories and nutrition is a LIFELONG process; "after" does not exist. 2. The key to lifelong health is finding satisfaction in the choices that move us to balance. 3. A slow approach to weight loss is better than extreme calorie deprival. You must eat! 4. We should satisfy our…

Scrambled Egg Muffins
This was my first attempt at making these, and they were a big hit. I'm the worst omelette maker in the world, but I can do these. Preheat oven to 390 degrees (200 C); scramble 6 eggs and stir in 6 tbs milk and whatever veggies, meat, cheese and seasonings you like; spray a 6-muffin muffin pan and pour egg mixture into…

Lemon Vinegar Ice Cubes (to clean garbage disposal)
Tried this tonight and it really makes the garbage disposal smell great. Just roll a large lemon around to loosen the juices inside and cut it up into small wedges; pour some white vinegar in an ice cube tray; place a piece of lemon in each cube; freeze; pop out the cubes and store them in a freezer bag in the freezer.…

Black Bean Burgers (mildly spicy)
My friend gave me this recipe. These are so good. Lots of ingredients and steps though. I prefer the sweet potato variation. I usually make up a batch and just stick them in the freezer to use later. Ingredients - 4 cups cooked/boiled black beans (or 2 cans), drained, cooled and mashed – reserve 1 cup of cooking water or…

Easy Microwaved Corn On The Cob
For those that aren't anti-microwave, have you tried microwaving your corn on the cob in the husk? Turns out great. Leave the corn in the husk. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Hold the hot corn with a pot holder and cut off the large end of the cob. From the small end, just apply pressure. The corn should slide right out…

Do you hate chocolate?
It seems the older I get the less I enjoy chocolate. That and overly salty or spicy foods. My taste buds are rebelling! I realize the dislike of overly salty food comes with better eating habits over the last couple years (definitely not on board with the salted caramel craze going on now), but I never thought I would see…

Blueberry Watermelon Popcicles
A summery, slushy, refreshing treat. This is one of my favorite popcicle blends. * 2 cups watermelon * 1.5 cups blueberries * Juice of 1/2 a lemon Blend well and freeze in popcicle molds. There's usually a little left over, so I blend that with a little milk and some ice cubes for a fruit smoothie.

Green Tea Smoothie
I made my first green tea smoothie tonight. Wow was that good and refreshing. Would have never thought to use green tea as the base in a smoothie. Blended... * 8 fl ounces chilled green tea * 1 ounce spinach * 1/2 orange * 1/2 cup blueberries * 1 scoop vanilla protein powder * About 1 cup ice cubes

Tropical Kumquat Cake
I have a kumquat tree (it came with the house) and about all I ever do with them is infuse them in water. Now and then I bring bags of the things to work and give them to some of my kumquat-loving coworkers. One of them made this super yummy, super moist cake with them. She got the recipe online here. Ingredients* 3 eggs *…
