The Paleo Diet
Have any of you heard of this: http://thepaleodiet.com/ I read an article in First For Women magazine and was interested. I am not a fan of Atkin's (and the like) because I think our bodies need carbs to regulate our blood sugar (yeah, I know that is a topic of dispute among many). However, this one does not eliminate…

Is repetition key?
I have a question regarding breakfast. Do you find that eating the same thing every morning makes it easier to stick to your plan or does changing it up keep things interesting, thus making it easier? I do not like sweet stuff (oatmeal, cereal, etc.) for breakfast, but I don't know how many ways I can make healthy eggs.…

For Those Of You Who Like Tuna Melts....
I'm getting reeeeeally good at these Flatout recipes! I love tuna melts and I came up with a healthy (NO BUTTER!!) variation with a lot more good-for-you ingredients: 1 Flatout Multi-Grain w/ Flax flatbread 1 can Starkist Chunk Light Tuna in water 1 Tbsp Mayo 1/4 each Red, Yellow & Orange Bell Pepper, julienned 1/3 cup…

Yummy Taco Flatbread Pizza!!
Here is a variation on a recipe that I found on the Flatout Website. Obviously you can add or omit any ingredients you do or do not want, as well as using reduced fat cheese and sour cream (those are 2 things I can not bring myself to skimp on). Put the flatbread (lightly oiled on both sides) directly on the rack in a…

Alli anyone??
I am considering trying Alli as I cannot seem to motivate myself to really commit to eating well. I am just being so lazy and not feeling like taking the time to prepare meals that are conducive to healthy eating. However, I feel as though giving myself this "tool" to aide in in weight-loss will force me to commit. My…

Zumba-Denver Metro area?
I've been hearing a lot about it lately and everyone who does it says they love it!! It does sound like a lot of fun!! Is there anyone here from the NW Denver Metro area (Westminster to be exact) know of anywhere around here that offers it? As some of you know, I am new to the area so I'm not sure what is around. Thanks…

i hate whole wheat, multi-grain, etc...
As most of you know, that is usually my plight. Well, that was before I found Sara Lee 45 Calories & Delightful!! It really is true to its name!! It doesn't have that cardboard texture that most "brown" breads do!! Has anyone else tried this wonderful stuff??

Hungry while I'm eating??
So, I decided to cut up a banana and put a cup of sliced strawberries with it as a little snack. As I am stabbing one of the last few bites-I'm thinking "Wow, I feel like I haven't put a thing in my stomach all day!" Could this be the same effect as when eating an apple by itself (momentarily raising your blood sugar)…

Hot and Spicy Italian!!
I just threw this together and thought it was fantastic so I figured I would share! It's great especially if you like a little heat. It is very filling and for some reason spicy foods seem to trick me into thinking I am fuller! Great Value - Elbow Noodles, 1/2 cup dry Pasta Sauce - Old World Style, Flavored With Meat…

Suggestions anyone??
Does anyone have any ideas for a low cal dressing for burgers? I am not really a fan of ketchup or mustard OR any of the Light Mayos. I just had a really yummy turkey burger but as I said, I wasn't thrilled with the ketchup and mustard on it. I am looking for something with a lot of flavor but not loaded with…

What is that machine...???
I go to Planet Fitness and typically I use the elliptical trainer. I have a treadmill at home so it gives me something else to do. But lately I have been eyeballing another machine, wondering if it will burn more calories than the elliptical. The only thing I can compare it to is Tony Little's Gazelle. Does anyone know…

Does anyone else have the pleasure...?
Does anyone else have to make meals for someone who doesn't care about what they eat? I am one of those people. My problem is, I find myself licking my fingers, trying this or trying that....adding on calories that I don't even think about!! Do you have any tricks to keep yourself from absent-minded noshing?? It's…

I hate whole wheat/multi-grain!!
I just had a really yummy breakfast sandwich: 1/2 c. Egg Beaters, 2 slices of black forest ham, reduced fat shredded cheddar and hot sauce all on a Thomas' Better Start Multi-Grain English muffin...all for about 235 calories. The problem is, I CANNOT get past the cardboard taste of the English muffin. I am slowly trying to…

Am I really such a SPAZ??
Seriously....why can't I find the spot to change my "Signature"?? I want to add my No Smoking ticker and I cannot, for the life of me, find where to do it!! HELP!!

Biggest Loser for Wii
Does anyone else have it? I have done it only about 3 times and every time I am really sore so I'm assuming ti works. I'm just wondering if anyone has done it consistently and seen good results. Quite honestly, I'd rather hang out on the treadmill for days on end than do strength training, but I know it's necessary.

Waaaaay under calories...what to do??
Okay, here's the deal. I didn't feel well this morning so I stayed in bed reeeeally late, like noon. So obviously I didn't eat breakfast. I had a salad and a can of tuna for lunch, a string cheese and apple for a snack, then a 6 oz chix breast, a little bit of mashed potatoes, somes peas and some bread & butter. Plus, I…

Who needs salad dressing when....?
So, I am always looking for new salad dressings to try but nothing ever satisfies me! To be honest, my favorite "salad dressing" is actually just plain ol' balsamic vinegar (no oil)! But somehow I failed to recall using the last of it (maybe it wasn't even me) so I was left without yesterday. I have tons of other dressings…

At it again....again.....again.
So, here I am, exactly one year from the point where I lost 32 lbs....back up to my original weight. How disgusting. Needless to say, I am VERY disappointed in myself. The good news is, I quit smoking 8 weeks ago (with a slip-ups) so at least I have an "excuse" for gaining some of the weight back. In addition to quitting…

Challenge groups??
I'm interested in becoming part of a "challenge group" but I am so uncoordinated when it comes to organizing them. Is anyone starting (or has recently started) a group that is "accepting new members"? Let me know!!!

"Before" and "During" pictures...
I use the first picture as my "Before" picture because this was taken at my biggest, 2 years ago in Disney World. People have told me that Mickey doesn't care if I'm fat....but I do!! I am going back in January and I want to look like a new person!! The second picture was taken 2 weeks ago. Hmmm...what a difference, huh??

Time to get back on the wagon...
Well, after a bit of a hiatus (about 5 months) I have decided that I need to get back in the saddle here on MFP. From January 5th - May 25th I lost a total of 30 lbs. Since then I have pretty much maintained my weight, within a few pounds because, although I hadnt been keeping track of everything I ate, I was still…

Inner Thigh Workout anyone??
I have pretty much always had thin legs no matter how big I ever got, at least with my clothes on. But w/o clothes on, that was a different story. Although my outter thighs and calves were okay, my inner thighs were jiggly! I know the deal about having to lose fat all over your body before seeing any real definition in any…

Lose some FATTY by ST. PATTY'S 3/13/09
Well, I'll be the first to start the thread this morning because I angry that I will not be meeting my St. Patty's Day goal. For some reason I just have not been able to kick this plateau I have come to. For the last 3 weeks I have stayed at the 20 lb mark, not budging either way, up or down. Then finally on Monday I was…

What the....??
How is it that I just adjusted my goals because I set it at the minimum 30 minutes, 3x/week but I have been exercising more than I anticipated (adjusting to 40 minutes, 4x/week because that has been what I have been doing) and my calories dropped from 1220 to 1200???? I'm exercising MORE than I thought but they still want…

It's alternating intervals of walking/jogging. I have seen it in a few different magazines and I have been trying it this week. I was just wondering if anyone has had results from it?? I'd love to hear anyone's success stories!! :glasses:

Does using the incline burn more calories?
I do at lease 5% incline while on the treadmill but I don't know how to incorporate that into my calorie burning. I don't want to say it's uphill because it really isn't, just an incline. Anyone have any ideas?
