Does anyone have any ideas for a low cal dressing for burgers? I am not really a fan of ketchup or mustard OR any of the Light Mayos. I just had a really yummy turkey burger but as I said, I wasn't thrilled with the ketchup and mustard on it. I am looking for something with a lot of flavor but not loaded with calories.....and tastes good too!

Thanks for any help!!

Salsa or green chili sauce. Only 5 calories for a tbsp.

Salsa is amazing! It tastes better than ketchup. I've been putting a spoonful of Mrs. Renfrew's Peach Salsa on my chicken burgers, along with some Mini Babybel Light cheese. Tastes GREAT and adds 60 calories to the burger instead of the 100+ that cheese and ketchup would. Even salsa alone is great.

Try your favorite low-cal salad dressing. I've been using sour cream in place of mayo lately .. haven't had a burger in a long while though so not sure how it would work there, hehe.

Yes, the salsa works real well. And if you look around, you can find it low in sodium which helps even more.

I haven't done this since starting my lifestyle change but I used to make it every other week when I ate unhealthy but it's not unhealthy... Melt some light laughing cow cheese (1 wedge per burger) and chop up some jalapenos to add to it and then drizzle it on top of your burger. It's absolutely yumtastic.

Coleslaw is a great burger topping too, maybe you could make a coleslaw with greek yogurt instead of mayo and put it on top?

OMG some great suggestions!!! I'm going to try guac and salsa on my next burger!

Do you like relish? I love hot pepper relish on my burgers.

I like salsa as well, you can even make a ranch out of greek or plain yogurt, sour cream.. avocado. You could also whip up some goat cheese with herbs. I know you don't like mustard but you could make a thicker vinegrette with some dijon, white wine vinegar, any herbs that would enhance the flavor of the burger, and some good quality olive oil!

You could try a raita made with low fat natural yoghurt, chopped cucumber and chopped fresh mint

    Or maybe some fruit chutney?

I am just recently working tomatoes into my diet. I haven't eaten them in about 20 years. :embarassed: But I finished a whole jar of salsa over the weekend! I never thought to put it on a burger!! Baked potatoes are my fave! I am going to have to go out and get some. I could probably even just get some tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and garlic and make my own! Mmmmm.....now I want to have another turkey burger!!

Greek yogurt with fresh cilantro!! On Turkey Burgers is the new club favorite. I'm a vegetarian but my favorite easy dinner is a garden burger in a thin sandwich roll (100 cal) with that as my dressing. It's low in cal and high in protein and YUMMY!

Huh, I have never thought to put salsa on my burger. That sounds awesome.

Oh, and the laughing cow and jalapenos sounds amazing as well.

I don't do most condiments so I'm ok with a "dry" burger as that's what I'm used to. On sandwiches I like vinegar or light italian dressing but the salsa sounds more burgerish.

I just had some Presidents Choice Brushetta Topping with roasted vegetables on the weekend, put a tbsp for 10 calories on my burger and WOW it was amazing.

the bolthouse farm brand has a great line of dressings made with yogurt - I love them all from the blue cheese to the honey mustard... they are in the section near the bag-o-salad mixes :)

i also love guac, peppers, and onions on my burger... if you load up on the tasty veggies you don't need as much "dressing"

This was my post from earlier:

xtina11179 just had the most FANTASTIC turkey burger!! I put a little Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb blend while it was cooking, put it on an Orowheat Multi-Grain Sandwich Thin and topped it with some Romaine, yellow onion, tomato (which is very new for me) and some sliced jalapenos! And get this, I didn't even put cheese on it!! My taste buds really are adapting!!

With a little ketchup and mustard it totaled 268 calories (I believe). But it still seemed to be missing something. As I am still getting used to the whole wheat, multi-grain bread, I still need a little something to soften the blow a little!

was just about to recommend the same thing. roasted red pepper hummus is awesome on a turkey burger.
  • I really like horseradish on my burgers. A little goes a long way and it adds tons of flavour. I'll have to remember to try the salsa, though - that sounds great and I'd never thought of it before.

My new fav is Miracle Whip light (20 calories) mixed with ground chipotle seasoning. I eat it on everything!
