Blackroll: calories?
I just did a blackroll session of about 30 net minutes, following this video: https://www.blackroll.com/exercises/regeneration In the end it came down to 30 minutes of dynamic planks and squats. Would you log those calories, and if so as what? I'm somewhat tempted to use my custom bodyweight exercises, but feel it might be…

kind of dried barberry - calories?
I have a big bag of barberries. The nutritional label reads 40kcal per 100gr. Surely that's for fresh barberries and not dried ones. The question is though how many calories are in them. They are sour rather than sweet and would guess they contain less sugar than raisins (not sure). I just sprinkled 10gr over a chili con…

Postural hypotension from hell
I finally know why I cannot run fast, or run or walk uphill, and why even running over a tiny speed bump leaves me exhausted: Postural hypotension. Yes, I know my blood pressure drops quite dramatically when I stand up. At times I'm close to fainting though usually I don't notice it even if my blood pressure drops from…

First Half end of September
So I signed up for the Scotland Half Marathon at the end of September. I'm super nervous about it as it has a cutoff time of 3:15, and I'm the slowest runner in the world. There's not much time for walking substantial parts of it either. It will certainly be the longest distance I've ever run. I'm aiming at finishing in 3…

Manager hints that I'm big
Right. My manager has been hinting a few times that I look a bit chubby. And I don't know how to react to that. I know I don't look as thin as I am (see below), but.. it's just a wrong comment to make and I don't know how to react to it. I could tell her to shut up, but that's not me and we otherwise have a good…

What the kitten is meal prep?
It might sound odd, but maybe there are cultural differences here. What the kitten is meal prep? When googling I see rows and rows of containers with different compartments containing different food. 1. Is that how the average American eat though out the day 2. How long does it take to prepare all this??? 3. And do you…

What was that???
Ok, I know I have some problems utilising energy properly. I'm currently training for a half marathon, and in my last long run on Saturday got myself up to 18km in 2:20hrs. Right afterwards I literally fell down on my bum and could not move. After quite a while I tried to get up and walked wide-legged home the last 800…

Just went 1170kcal over my calories
... and then I remembered I forgot to remove the mango chicken curry from my diary that I'd cooked today and that is meant for 4 dinners. :D With 80 grams of rice with peas this dish will be around 560kcal (rough estimate) per dinner. It's saved as a meal now.

This kettlebell workout!
It still exists... I haven't done it in ages. I only managed one round, and only 8 turkish getups in total. Didn't want to drop the kettlebell on my head. First time I did this I started with 4kg for the Turkish getups. I only have an 8 and 12kg one now. Did 12 situps with kettlebell at the end. I'm dripping with sweat!

Family cookbook gift idea needed
I'm trying to find a family cook book as a gift for someone. Should be available in the UK. Most family cookbooks I find are just the usual recipes: cupcake decorations and simple alltime favourites. There must be more than this. Recipes that can be used as an inspiration, for trying out new things, but not so exotic that…

Don't be afraid of vacations
Really, don't. If you travel a bit longer you're bound to store more waterweight for a few days. For me, it's flying that is really bad. I just came back from Svalbard (yes, I'm crazy) and had a fantastic time. And I had such fantastic food, ranging from a four course meal including interesting things such as smoked bear,…

Very quick loss but low maintenance cals
Here's the deal: I've lost 18kgs much quicker than expected starting about three years ago. After maintaining for over two years I regained some 8kg again due to a severe depression. I'm just over a month in again and am down 3kg (no initial water loss, loss started slowly after just under a week and has picked up pace…

MFP saved me (well, kind of)
So basically I posted a month ago that I had regained some weight (8-9kg) after maintaining successfully for over 2 years due falling into a depression, dealing with my mother's death, my husband leaving me and lots of other *kitten*. I still cooked fresh, but had masses of kinder cholocate and crisps next to it. So…

Half marathon end of September
I know, it's only 8 weeks left and it's going to be very tough for me as I'm a real tortoise runner and have some health issues. I'll try it nontheless. So, I've been running for a bit over two years now but health reasons have always stopped me and thrown me back to the beginning. The longest run I ever did was 16km, and…

Workouts vanish from diary
Oh great, there's something odd going on with the website. I add a workout and get the extra calories. I close the browser tab. Open it later to add more food, and the workout calories are not counted anymore. I delete the workout, enter it again, rinse and repeat. Anyone else notice the same?

Bodyweight or Kettlebell workout, how do you call this? (somewhat fitbit)
I just got my Fitbit Charge 2 today and am currently setting it up, and on which workout types to use. For bodyweight or kettlebell training I could use Workout, Interval Workout, Bootcamp or Circuit Training. If you did this kind of training, how would you call it from the selection above? It's not really interval…

strength training: less hungry. Anyone else?
I wonder if other people made the same 'discovery' or even want to try it out and see if it helps them. For years I get hungry very quickly, and occasionally crash. And for years I realized that doing strength training prevents this somehow. Without I get hungry at 09;00 in the morning and am hungry again an hour after my…

Fitbit app: wrong time zone?
I've bought a Charge 2. Before doing so I had a look at the Fitbit app, and just kept it on my phone. Seems to count steps without a device paired to it just fine. Only it seems to be in the wrong time zone. I just fired it up and it says I walked 9053 steps today, most of which between 8-9 in the morning. Well, it's not…

Olive oil and sunflower oil in grams
I don't have measuring cups and I don't intend to buy any. I just pour oil from the bottle into the pan and weight the difference before and after. Yet I cannot find any entry in grams but only in ml. Any suggestions for correct entries?

calories sardines, raw, flesh only
Basically I'm looking for a calorie entry for sardines, raw, flesh only. Not in oil, not in tomato sauce, not including bones and stuff. I cannot find anything, neither on the USDA website. What's up? Am I in a parallel universe where sardines don't exist?

Sardines and... (looking for ideas)
I bought whole sardines the other day and they are in my freezer now. Looking for an idea on what to do with them. I'm not into creamy sauces or cheese. I don't have a barbecue or deepfrier and prefer to use fresh, tasty, few ingredients and short cooking time, summerly European or Asian is fine. The only thing I can come…

Garmin vivosmart 3 or Fitbit Charge 2 users here?
Hello, I've been trying to find an activity tracker for a while now, but never found one that really convinced me. I just don't want a thick thingy on my tiny wrists. Maybe the Garmin vivosmart 3 or Fitbit Charge 2 finally might be what I'm looking for. There are some for me important questions though: can I set a custom…

I don't feel like cooking ovendish
Whenever I don't feel like cooking I whack a pile of veggies, potatoes or sweet potatoes and a breaded fish filet or a piece of salmon into an ovendish and let it cook. If I buy breaded fish I always make sure I get the one with the highest amount of protein and lowest salt. Today it is Breaded haddock 33g broccoli 36g…

Lack of energy from anything endurance strength related.
I'm trying to figure out something. What bodily prerequisites are required for running? One needs to have a heart that is able to keep up, lungs that pull in enough oxygen.. strength endurance? background: I've been trying to figure out why I'm so easily out of energy. With out of energy I mean that my legs feel too heavy…

Time to admit: I'm having a problem
I'm starting this thread because I'm having a problem, and it might hold me accountable.Since the end of last year* My husband has left me. * My mother was diagnosed with cancer and died in March in a very gruesome way I'm still trying to get to terms with * I'm in need of more money than I make at the moment with this PhD…

Synching running app with custom exercise in MFP
I have custom workouts, mainly for running in MFP. Those are based on experience and are much more reliable than the overinflated calories MFP gives me. Whenever I upload an exercise I need to go to MFP and use my custom exercise for running with the appropriate length. Is there a way to synch an app to custom exercises to…

Positive effect of strength training.
Guys, especially @SideSteel, here's an interesting question with regards to strength training. I suffer from generally low energy levels if I don't get something to eat in time. For me this means I might crash if my second breakfast or any other of my frequent meals is just 10 minutes late. With crash I mean I feel like…

Awaiting doms from hell
Oh dear... I just did the first session of YAYOG, the upper body workout. At the moment my arms feel like they're about to break off and fall to the ground. I'm sure tomorrow and the day after will be fantastic  For the heck of it I did about 1/3 of the first YAYOG leg session last week (basically 1-2-3-4-3-2-1…
