Basically I'm looking for a calorie entry for sardines, raw, flesh only. Not in oil, not in tomato sauce, not including bones and stuff. I cannot find anything, neither on the USDA website. What's up? Am I in a parallel universe where sardines don't exist?

You are talking about raw sardine meat, not canned (which should include nutrition info). I assume it would be similar to any oily fish, such as "Atlantic mackerel, raw."

Yes, indeed. Maybe mackerel, or anchovis? I find quite some entries around 130kcal per 100 grams, but likewise some around 180. And the packaging says 250 per 100grams whole fish. Considering that 116gr whole fish came down to 79 grams flesh (after my gutting and filleting attempt) this would be much, much higher than everything else I find. All would fit easily into my allowance though.

Maybe just a parallel universe where people catch sardines and eat them, versus most of us who can only get them canned? No idea. Good suggestion though.

They were really delicious! I settled on spaghetti with capers and cherry tomatoes in the end. Oil, onions and a generous amount of garlic, and a hint of fresh chili.
