Why is corn so high in calories?
I just logged 1 cup of frozen corn and it's 150 calories!! It's not that big of a deal, but I just expected, with it being a vegetable, that it woudl be much lower. I had no clue corn was so high in calories.

Hungry before bed. What can I eat? Can I eat?
So, I don't normally eat my exercise calories back. I know this is kind of a no-no, but I feel like I'm getting plenty to eat. If anything, I do tend to be hungry at night right before bed. I exercise at night, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I generally tend to avoid eating anything right before bed.…

New!
Hello all! I have been on MFP for a while now, but I haven't been on steadily for a while. I started at around 162 after my second son was born about 2.5 years ago. When he was 6 months old, DH and I started doing the 30 DS in our family room after the kids went to bed. I got down to around 142. (I'm 5'4"). We kept that up…

Dancing around like an idiot
I worked out at the gym this morning, but felt like doing something else tonight. I did Ab Ripper X which was only 15 mins, but rough. I also danced in my family room like an idiot for a couple songs. I love doing that, it burns calories and it doesn't feel like work.

NSV: My trouble spot is changing!!
I started with a small gym/personal trainer at the end of April. So, it's been roughly 5 weeks that I've been going there. She took my measurements when I started. My stomach, specifically my lower stomach, has always been my trouble spot. Having 2 kids (the most recent is 1.5) has not helped!!! When I started with her my…

Results for my husband and I
We started with MFP last April (2011) and doing the 30 Day Shred every night after our kids went to bed. He lost 36 lbs and I lost 28. This is us before (me around 165 and him around 220) This is us after (me around 134, him around 181) I've put about 13 of it back on, but am back on track now! I just thought these might…

How to stay away from artificial sweetners
This is something I would really like to focus on. We (my family and I) used to drink a ton of Crystal Light. I am slowly fading this out for us. I don't want to continue to use artificial sweetners (Splenda, Equal, etc), but what are options for sweetening things that are low in fat/calories, but not bad for you? I can't…

Is this right? RE: TDEE & BMR
I calculated my BMR and TDEE (fitnessfrog.com). BMR=1457 TDEE=2513 (I have a desk job, but I work out 6 days a week). So, taking -20% of that gives me 2010. Should I set my calories to 2000 and not eat back my exercise calories? Right now, MFP has me set at 1200 and I eat most if not all of my exercise calories back. I'm…

Better to rest tonight or workout?
I usually work out 6 days a week and take 1 day as a rest day. I recently joined a small gym and went to my first group training session last night. It kicked my butt! I am a little sore today. I also have my first 1:1 session with my trainer tomorrow for 50 mins, where she will no doubt kick my butt again. So, my question…

I feel like screaming
I'm in a horrible mood today for some reason, so please excuse my attitude. I'm just so frustrated with all the information flying around about what people should and should not eat. I can't believe it's this freaking complicated. I try to read the posts and see what I might be doing wrong. Instead, I end up feeling…

I feel guilty for joining a gym
I am a mother of 2 little boys (4 & 1.5). I also work full time and my husband has grad school 2 nights a week. Up to this point, my husband and I have been doing the 30DS dvd after our kids go to bed and I have started running a few night a week recently. I am at a point where I want to see what I can accomplish with my…

Runners- do you monitor your heart rate while running?
I recently started running consistently. I am running with a couple of friends. One of my friends had previously been working with a personal trainer and ran the Mini. Her trainer has her run until her heart rate reaches 200 and then wants her to walk to get it back down to 180. She has told me that for optimal weight…

can't get rid of my belly fat!
I have lost about 22 lbs so far. I am 5'4 and 138 right now. I would like to get to 135, but would be happy with that number. I'm less concerned about the number on the scale and more concerned about the way my clothes fit. My pants are all loose in the butt and legs, but they fit kind of snug in the tummy. I am wondering…

I'm stuck
I seem to have reached my plateau. The first 20+ pounds fell off pretty easily. I have been hovering around the same 2 lbs for about a month now. I haven't changed my eating. We were doing the 30 Day Shred (almost) every night. Now, I do 30 mins on the elliptical Tues-Fri and do the 30 Day Shred (level 3) on Sat and Sun.…

injured toe and working out
My husband and I play in a co-ed recreational softball league. On Sunday, some jerk slid into home and messed up my big toe nail. It's paritally seperated from the nail bed, but I don't think it's going to come off. It was painful on Sunday, but seems to be getting better each day. It's still painful to put my full weight…

substitution for pasta?
We use whole wheat pasta, but it's still so high in calories. Are there any good ideas for a substitution for the pasta? We love to eat spaghetti, but it's so much!

I have, what is mostly likely , a very stupid question
MFP has it set that my daily goal for calories is 1,280. If I input exercise, it gives me back more calories. Should I still be aiming for the 1,280 a day, regardless of how much I exercise? Should I be aiming to have calories left over after the exercise is accounted for? If I go to "goals" it has a "daily calorie…

too many leftover calories, but feeling satisfied?
I seem to be coming up short on my calories everyday, and by a pretty large number too. Yesterday I was under by 536 calories. I logged 235 calories burned from exercise and I get 300 calories burned everyday b/c I'm breastfeeding. The problem is, I feel like I'm eating enough. I'm not hungry or unsatisfied after my meals.…

30 Day Shred and loging excercise
This is what my husband and I are doing for our exercise right now. I'm wondering if anyone can help me on the best way to log this exercise? We are on the 2nd day of level 2 if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Breastfeeding and calorie intake
I was hoping this site would ask about breastfeeding when calculating how many calories I should have per day. I am still breastfeeding, but am trying to get a start on my weight loss. Has anyone else encountered this? Thank you!
