And use it for anything other than steady-state cardio

Bumping this so more people can see it. I always cringe when someone uses a HRM for weight training or circuits.

Yep, I've read that article before. Thanks for posting it.

I have a Polar FT7, love it 100%, but in order to get the best estimate it must be properly calibrated and maintained. I've had mine for almost two years and I've had the batteries changed, but never considered the band can wear out and cause some wacky readings, and show up as zero for heart rate. I did some research and found out that that band can wear out and needs to be replaced. Sure enough, replacing the band got my HRM numbers right back on track.

Great tool, but it's just a tool and really meant only for steady state cardio.

I tried it a few times early on in my journey and figured out that the readings were too wacky, plus my heart rate does not stay in the target zone, even if it does get there from weight lifting.

Don't own one, and would never buy one.

I do 80%+ of my cardio on machines with build in HRM. Anything else, I either completely low ball ( like < 50% of of a modest estimate ), or don't even try to log.

I already have anxiety about my heartbeat (although it's a lot better since I started doing more exercise a few months ago), so there's no way I would focus even more attention on it with a HRM.

    Bump for the informationz.
