Taming chin length hair for exercise?

My hair is cut into an asymmetrical bob, shaved in the back and chin length in the front kinda like this: (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/43/fb/fd/43fbfdcc382dd209dcfa5bbc07a95f92.jpg). I have not found a good way to keep it out of my face during martial arts (think sprawls, burpees, spinning kicks etc). I've tried the simple plastic headbands (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81Qk3uKeN4L._SL1500_.jpg) but they fall off. I am not allowed to wear a hat. The childish hair clips work better (http://www.ihomewholesale.com/media/Ami/50HC181-LARGE-SNAP-HAIR-CLIP.jpg) but they can still slip or only hold some of my hair.
What else can I try?

Try pulling the front half back into a half pony tail with the little holders it's how I deal with mine during grappling0

Have you tried the athletic headbands that are cloth and a full circle?

I used to have hair similar to yours (actually, that's my current picture!) and these seemed to work pretty well. I was a bike rider, though, so I might have an easier time in general.0 -
I love my Sparkly Soul headband. I can wear them during my Bootcamp/Crossfit class where there's all sorts of jumping around. Most headbands fall off my weird-shaped head but these ones stay on. Plus they're sparkly.sparklysoul.com/0

+1 to both.
I have the same hairstyle. When it gets in my face, I hold it back with a salon metal hair clip or a cloth head band. I'm not doing physical stuff though.0 -
yup the athletic hairbands are so much better than the regular every day ones.0

These^
My niece wears these for volleyball.0 -
I'm thinking two pigtails like Boo from Monsters, Inc.
I bet it'd distract your opponents when sparring!

cut the sleeves off some old t-shirts and use them as an extra wide headband. I did this when I worked in a shop and my hair wasn't long enough to tie it back and normal headbands just pop off my head or dig into my scalp because I have a giant head.0
-
Mine's more of an even Bob, but I do pigtails with v small elastics and pin back my bangs.
Lol but low pigtails0 -
I wear a buff as a headband: http://buffusa.com/0

Thanks for all of the comments! I thought the full circle bands would come off or pull, but it sounds like they work (especially the sparkly soul ones)! I'll check those out! The pigtails won't work (even though I'd totally rock them lol) because of my sparring headgear http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4182ok2O6NL._SY300_.jpg0

Can you wear a bandana/cotton scarf like the lady on the aunt Jamima syrup? That's what I do sometimes. I have the same haircut, but I swim, so it's easy to deal with0

Normally I can't keep a cloth headband on, my hair is too thin and fine to hold them in place. With your bob, I have a feeling you will have the same problem. I would recommend trying a Fringe Fighter headband from Lululemon. They are wide across the front but narrow in the back and will generally stay in place for me. They've been a life saver for me! I may have started a small collection of them... lol

Use 2 Lil bands then or I just let my sparring gear hold it back at that point... I have to readjust after a serious roll session tho.0
-
I have elastic non slip headbands which I secure in place with flat clips.0

If the headbands don't work, Headsweats makes little "shorty" caps in fun colors and patterns. A lot of cyclists (including me) wear them under their cycling helmets. They may look goofy, but they do keep my hair out of my face effectively.0

So i can't wear head bands, no matter what kind i get they slip off constantly. What does the trick for me is the most inexpensive and most effective. Part my hair and twist my "bangs" ( mostly just the front on my hair) i twist tightly and used a couple of bobby pins. That does the trick.http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8358081ff69e20177444cf985970d-popup
Like this, but tighter.0 -

I found jelly headbands at the dollar store. They are a soft plastic headband with the little teeth and an elastic cord in the back. I have a big head and a lot of hair so most headbands slip off, even the athletic ones. I also have problems with swim caps staying on. Anyway, these jelly headbands are the best ever for staying put and taming the loose hair that won't stay in a pony or bun. Can't lose at a pack of 3 for $1.00!
Lifehack: wander around your dollar store with an open mind. You would be surprised at what you find, especially for purposes other than what they were originally intended for.

I have a bob also, but layered and wavy. I really like Sweaty Bands, they stay in place for me. Lately I've been using the plastic zig-zag type of headband where the ends clip together. They don't move at all.0
-
Have you tried regular bobby pins? They stay in my hair better than most headbands or clips.
Something like this? -> amazon.com/BLOM-Headband-Sports-Fashion-Guarantee/dp/B00PP83QQ2/ref=sr_1_23?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1437833256&sr=1-23

I've got the same hair style as you, at the moment it's long enough in the front to be able to pull the front bits back into a little half-pony tail. Other times I will pull the front sections behind my ears and pin with two cirby grips which I criss cross over each other- criss crossing them def keeps them in place, those suckers go no where! I run so usually get my hair bouncing around all over the place but have found this works for me0
-
Lululemon also has cloth headbands with a bit of rubber on the inside to make it stay on better. I have very small head though so I put a couple of bobby pins on too so it won't slip off.0

Thanks for all of the great responses guys! Lots of things for me to try0

pig tails- it's the only way

This is the worst length for exercise (but my preferred length for normal life). Shorter and it is too short to get in your face. Longer and you can do pony tails. I just let it get in my face, or wear a hat.0

The $1 jelly headbands totally did the trick for both running and martial arts! Thanks!

I got mine at a different chain but very very similar. I'm sure other solutions would have worked but this was the cheapest and most convenient for me to try so I started there.0 -
I've found Bolder Headbands to stay in place and hold up well. My hair is just past my chin, thin and fine, and these hold it well for running (main reason I wear them).

2 stand twist with athletic headband on top. I use tiny hair elastics in lieu of bobby pins.0 -
I just bought some lululemon headbands (I don't usually by from that store due to how expensive they are!) and they have velvet on the inside instead of rubber. The velvet gets stickier as it gets wetter where as rubber gets more slippery as it gets wetter. I have worn them a few times now and they have stayed in place well. They were 12 bucks each though I think!0
