should or should not?

Options
Hi beautiful and handsomes!

I'd like to start a quick poll:
  1. I'm trying to get motivated before embarking on a diet trip.
  2. I'm on a diet plan prescribed by a doctor.
  3. I googled a bit and drew out a diet plan for myself.
  4. I'm copying someonelses prescribed diet that once worked for them.
  5. I got to be honest and you are not really pursuing any diet.
  6. Nah, I have no idea what I'm doing here or in life as a matter of fact.

I don't call it a diet, I log my food and exercise and stay under my calories for the day plus I increase my excerise so I'm losing weight

    7. I am eating less of what I already ate to fit my calorie goal and moving more to burn more calories in order to make a lifestyle change.

#5 i guess? I'm not on any specified "diet", just counting calories to maintain at my goal weight.

(...okay, #6 also applies to me tbh)

    8. It's not fixed in stone. I lost the weight, kept it off. Some days I'm all about the vegetables and lean protein, some days it's ice cream and popcorn.

God's not finished with me yet.

Am I just having a "duh" moment?

Why is this thread titled, "should or should not?"

This is me also. I don't avoid any particular foods, except for ones that I don't care for. I think of my calorie needs as a budget. I focus on being more active, because otherwise I'm lazy and don't burn much.

    Six nopes from me.

I came here because I thought counting calories would be helpful - it was.

    This^

    Definitely #7

I've done "plans." The problem with eat this.....don't eat that is that that has nothing to do with ME. I'm the person who has to keep the weight off. Figuring out MY bad habits & changing them is how I'm going to keep the weight off.....this time.

    Ohhhh. Thanks for clarifying. ;);)

Should not. The only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Diet type is generally irrelevant, but only relevant to you if it helps you keep a calorie deficit.

Eat real food in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

You will get much better advice if you describe the diet plan you are considering, what is the reasoning that you and/or your doctor think this is important for you, and what else you've tried previously and what your results were... rather than making up a random survey for people to respond to.
