How many calories a day should I add to maintain weight and for how long

You add calories up to your maintenance level and eat them until you want to do something other than maintain.1

If you want to continue to maintain your current weight, then you'll need to stay at the same calorie level (approximately) forever. Actually, as you get older, you may become more sedentary, so you'd need to cut back. Or if you start living a more active life, then you may be able to eat more. Keep weighing yourself regularly. If you gain more than 5 pounds, cut your calories. If you are continuing to lose weight, and don't want to, then start eating more. If you want to avoid a life of yo-yo dieting, then you need to be vigilant.0
