Back surgery/maintaining not easy

Options
I have been maintaining my 30 pd weight loss for over a year. I had back surgery 5 weeks ago and have gained 5 pds. I can't exercise for a few more weeks, my daily intake is 1200 (mfp calculated). Should I lower my calorie intake to help me to start losing?

NO, please don't lower your calories. Your body NEEDS the calories to heal properly. The weight range to maintain is 5-10 pounds plus or minus. Talk to you doctor BEFORE you change any thing PLEASE. I had the same problem in March and have gained anywhere from 3 to 15 lbs since. I am back to losing now and am only 3 lbs over what I weighed before my injury in Dec,

Take a longer view - which is more important?
    • Supporting the healing process by eating at maintenance.
    • Losing a temporary weight gain right now.

Bet you are swollen from the surgery - that's water, not fat.
