Just had a dr visit today and she told me about net carbs - subtracting the sugar you've had for the day from the carbs you've had for the day. In my nutrition breakdown is the carbs i'm allowed for the day before subtracting the sugar?

Net carbs are subtracting the FIBER from your total carbs, not the sugar.
Fiber is not digested, so its calories don't count to net carbs. Sugar is digested and the calories absolutely count to your net carbs.5 -
The carbs in MFP's goals are total carbs, also, not net. But you can be flexible about the amount of carbs, fat, and (to some extent) protein you consume anyway, so it doesn't matter if you go over so long as you are getting enough protein and some good sources of fat. Some feel better if their fat isn't especially low, though.0
