Am I supposed to sink this deep - about 6 inches? ( Yes, I'm wearing the wrong clothes. It was just a quick dog walk on my property.)

It's normal to sink a little bit. You're not going to hover above the snow. It also depends on the type of snow. Even if the snow is 6 ft deep you won't sink more than that. What were you expecting?1

Yes, it is normal to sink in. Snowshoes do not make you Legolas who can run on top of the snow.3

Depends on the snow density, ambient temperature, etc. If you sunk 6 inches and thinknyou are doing something wrong - take off the snowshoes and see how much more you sink. I’ll bet you will feel more certain about your snowshoe technique! I’m sure you’re fine ⛄️1
