Calories in pizza question.

Hi, so I just hit 199 pounds on the scale today and not to celebrate but just because I was hungry I had a hungry man dinner cooking in the oven that was 970 calories, I'm not going to eat it now though because someone brought back pizza and I ate 4 slices, were not talking Pizza Hut or dominos but traditional Italian pizza from a traditional Italian restaurant, and I'm just wondering how many calories I ate, 2 slices were plain and 2 slices were sausage, I kinda feel like even though I ate four slices of pizza the pizza is probably healthier than a 1,000 calorie hungry man TV dinner, apart from the pizza I was at 780 calories "before I ate pizza" so yeah just wondering if anyone who eats a lot of pizza can tell me how many calories the pizza was. Thank you.

    Without pictures of the size and the density it's hard to tell. If it came from a local restaurant I'd see if they had nutrition information. If not find another similar place and use their nutrition information.

    ETA: Pizza is notoriously high in sodium, so don't be discouraged if you are back over 200 for a few days. It's water not fat.

    Did you weigh any of your pizza slices? That would give you a better idea of what to "match up" with an appropriate database entry in MyFitnessPal. The calories in pizza are quite variable depending on the weight/size of the slice so I like to weigh the slice (at least initially until I know) and use one of the database entries that goes by weight rather than slice.

    As an example: At my local pizza place here in Maryland, a slice of plain pizza (from a large pie) typically weighs about 7 oz and has about 500 calories.

    Need more details about the pizza. Thick crust or thin? Similar to a chain place like dominos? Or like a wood fired thin crust with light toppings?

    I literally just walked out of a Neapolitan pizza place and split a margherita pizza with prosciutto and arugula with my husband. I chose an entry in the database that was 900 cals for the whole pizza (12 inch) and logged the portion (2/3) I ate.

    Kind of like this but the slices were not as big.

    Looking at those slices & comparing them to my local pizza place, I'd say they are about 400 calories per slice (I'm assuming each weighs less than 7oz since they look a bit smaller than the large pizza slices from my local place)....those pizza pics are making me hungry again!

    A 14 in pizza w/regular amt of cheese and standard meat topping is about 350 Cals per 1/8 of the pie slice.

    I find it too hard to guess actual calories for a day like that -- of which I had one day before yesterday, although in my case it was General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice and an egg roll that led to even more snacking. I am now dealing with the extra water weight still piling on.

    Anyway, what to do with a day like that is end it. Yup. Mine ended the day it began. Yesterday I was back on track. Strive toward having fewer of those days. We used to have Chinese take out once a week at least -- this time it had been two weeks since we had it. Progress in small steps!

    If you try to deny yourself ever having a pizza blow out day, well, you're just likely to feel a failure when you inevitably do. If instead, you say to yourself, "That was fun but I'm not going to do that again very soon," then you have not failed at anything. You've exercised self-discipline with occasional lapses which sounds pretty normal to me.
