Inconsistent Eating & Weight Loss

So here's a question...

Let's say someone had a calorie deficit of 1800, but instead decided to eat very inconsistently. During different days he eats 1000, 1700, 1200, 900 etc etc. But one thing never changes, he never goes over his deficit. Can this sort of flip flop eating cause someone to actually stop losing weight, or is sticking under a deficit all that really matters for weight loss?

NOTE: I know eating under a certain amount of calories is unhealthy, i am just curious to see what people think =).

He'll lose weight, but he'll also lose a lot of muscle and risk damaging his organs

I asked that question when I first joined this site.

Yes, you can flip flop like that and still lose lbs. Just don't weigh yourself daily.

Look at it all averaging out over the week. Aim for a weekly goal instead of a daily goal. Personally I think 900 is a little low, but if you had a high calorie day the day before, that may be all you feel like.

My week tends to go Monday- average, Tuesday- low, Wednesday- low, Thursday- high, Saturday- average, Sunday- average.
It has just worked out that way because of schedule and social life, but has worked for years. I just make sure I have my weekly goal met.

    Cheers, h.
