The past 3 weeks I was SO sick! I could barely stomach anything, but i made sure to at least hit my protein goal everyday. I ended up losing around 15 pounds. I was wondering, because i hit my protein goal everyday, does that mean I lost at least most of that weight due to fat/water loss?I’ve heard a few times on these forums that as long as you hit your protein goal you won’t lose any muscle or lean tissue and only lose fat (at least mostly) is that true? (also, i know this weight loss is only temporarily since i plan to go back to eating even more than i was prior to getting sick. I am finally trying to gain💪) I’m trying to learn more about Macros & nutrition.

Not losing actualy muscle (not just lean body mass) is more than just protein. It's protein and resistance training. You reduce the risk of losing muscle if you are eating adequate protein and calories.

Having said that, it's unlikely that you would lose any or much muscle in 3 weeks. Most will be fat, glycogen, water, reductions in food waste, etc..

Thank you so much! If i didn’t hit my protein goal and i was still sick not being able to eat much at all, would i lose muscle then? Thank you tons!
