Scary *kitten* Diabetes

We had a company breakfast in our breakroom this morning and one of our employees had skipped breakfast so he could eat here. He's a diabetic and had his insulin adjusted this last monday. Well, long story short his blood sugar bottomed out and he had a very bad reaction to it. Started literally bouncing off the walls, talking incoherently, running around the office etc. Scary *kitten*. 911 was called and he ended up on the floor right by my desk and i had to stand there and watch while 2 different emt crews tended to him. They got him leveled out and taken to the hospital after about an hour.

I dont have diabetes but diabetes does run in my family and me sitting here at 46 yrs old and 300 lbs.. makes me realize how much I'm playing with fire not taking this weight loss seriously and the potential health risks. Mind you, my dad had his first heart attack at 38 and died at 39 on the table having bypass surgery.

I need to get my head out of my azz and take this serious...

That sure is some strong motivation!! I hope your coworker gets back on his feet soon.

You're taking the first steps to making a change by being here and acknowledging that yeah, that's scary! Maybe that was the kick you needed to really get your health on track! You can do it and you have a wealth of support here on MFP to back you up!
