Sorry if there is already a topic about this but I'm kind of in a hurry - my friend is visiting me and she wants to go to a Mexican restaurant when she gets here. Can someone help me out and tell me what are the most healthy options at a Mexican restaurant? I don't want to mess up my diet! Thanks :)

Mexican food is rough for me, cause it's my fave! When you eat the chips and salsa, count out a certain number of chips and only eat those. Salsa is pretty low calorie though so feel free to pile on the dip! Don't be fooled by taco salads, they have the potential to be very high calorie. Usually I stick to fajitas, don't use any sour cream or cheese, and only 1 or 2 tortillas! Still not super low calorie but it's better than some of the other stuff on the menu.

Taco salad can be good with modifications. Don't eat the shell, limit or eliminate the cheese, and ask for guacamole, no dressing or sour cream.

    Water.

Fajitas aren't too bad, especially with lots of veggies.

Go with the fajitas. They're yummy haha. But like everyone else says, no sour cream, cheese, etc.

I get fajitas and ask for light oil. Don't use all the tortillas they bring, and ask them to hold the cheese and sour cream. I normally only use like one tortilla, then eat the rest of the veggies plain.

I went to a Mexican restaurant last week and I got the fajitas and the calories were not that bad-the sodium was the bad part. The restaurant I went to (Azteca) has the cheese and sour cream on the side, I did add a tiny bit of sour cream to my one tortilla. What got me was the chips and bean dip-but I still stayed with in my calories (I added everything I was going to eat before we went-so I stayed to the portion size I logged) Have fun!

Thanks everyone! I may get the fajitas but I also saw a grilled shrimp salad on their menu which I think may be my healthiest option since it's just grilled shrimp and veggies. The chips are going to be tempting!
