How do you overcome muscle soreness?

I'm in month 2 of Insanity first week day 5 and my hamstrings hurt SO BAD!!! I popped in max interval circuit with the best intentions twice today! Each time I got up to switch kicks and my hamstrings screamed stop and actually made me stop because it hurt so bad. So my question is, besides stretching is there anything you do to overcome this?
Any suggestions would be immensely appreciated as I REALLY want to finish this week properly :)

I go with potassium, stretching, Epsom Soaks, yoga, and lots of water.

Yep, it's the good kind of pain. You'll know the bad kind of pain when you snap a ligament.

Let me also say with your hammies, a good massage would probably help as well. Or a hot tub for that matter.

    I dont! I embrace it!

If you're not sore you're not working hard enough, pain is weakness leaving the body.

Just be sure to stretch, consume protein and potassium, and don't overwork sore muscles because it's counter productive

Stretching after the workout and the next day. And taking some sort of pain killer helps too and hot showers/baths feel soooo nice.
Just have to work through it and get stronger :]

I think everyone is different. Here are my thoughts

Stretch really good and then stretch some more
    Drink lots of water
Epsom Salt soak in the tub
    Take Advil
Get back on the horse, I believe in working the soreness out.

I was in the same boat this week. I lifted heavy on monday and was uber sore on Tuesday and wanted to crawl in bed but I knew if I did I would be sore for days. I went and did a 3.5 mile trail run with my brother and my legs were screaming at me the whole time but it was totally worth it. I wasn't too sore the next day!

Just a note, if you haven't had labs done in a while at your PCP that might be a good idea. One of the symptoms of a Vit D Def. is muscle soreness!

You should be careful that you haven't tweaked your hamstring. If it's just lactic, then a good recovery drink post workout can help. You can also ice sore muscles ( but probably not for longer than 10 mins at a time). Finally, you can go for a 30 min gentle walk to get the lactic out.

If you've pulled or torn a hanstring, then you're benched I'm afraid..... rest and icing.

Light cycling/spinning. Doing 10 minutes after a leg workout or intense cardio helps me.

a light jog or something else cardio with your legs with help alleviate the pain sooner than later. Also try a foam roller. A massage right at your house...albeit it an awkward one

I would recommend stretching more intensely and warming up/cooling down properly. I firmly believe that stretching and flexibility is a higher priority than cardio or weight lifting.

I guess I just have to work through it since none of my coworkers are in the clinic today  (I'm a massage therapist btw) Time to kick my wimpy butt into high gear I suppose haha, thanks for all the advice :)

I did Insanity and the soreness is just wicked. What helped me was after the workouts I would drink the shakeology drink and soak in a ice cold bath!!! It really helps

I would draw a bath and soak with epsom salts, go for brisk walks and keep moving. Ibuprofen may help if you're ok with taking that. I believe the soreness comes from the lactic acid that builds up......so keep it moving you should be ok.

Just work through it! You'll barely notice after a while :) unless of course you injured yourself, in which case you probably shouldn't work through it lolol

Creatine seems to help me. Although I started that about the same time as Whey Protein.

DOMS or lack of is not a good indicator of a workout that does or does not produce results. Just sayin'
