How bad is it if you go over on your protein intake? I am always under goal for everything except that- I havent gone over because I am making it a point not too but that seems to be a challange for me.

Thanks!

MFP defaults are really low for protein. I aim for 1 gram per lb of lean body mass - or 109 grams per day. You can safely go up even higher which is really important if you want to maintain lean muscle mass while losing.

If you do not have kidney issues there should be no issue going well over the set protein limit. In fact, is probably good for you to go well over as most would agree MFP sets that way too low.

Also, depending on what your goals are here (slimming down, losing weight, firming/toning muscles etc) you may actually need the additional protein. I personally add 10-15 additional protein on resistance training days.

I don't know if it has hit anyone else, but calories and "macros" can almost never "balance." The NATURAL make-up of food just is not the way we eat..."We" don't eat food we eat calories, and the Universe just didn't make food that-a-way. So, just stay in the "ball park" and you will be fine.

I have a hard time hitting my personal protein goals (about 100 grams a day). I was curious what you eat to stay under your calorie goal but exceed your protein goal. I can't seem to do both.

I have found that many items in the data base do not list protien at all. I found this when I entered some turkey burger. I could hardly believe turkey has zero protien. I went to the Jenn o site and found the correct information and took the time to enter it. So yu should watch for that. I also have read many many times MFP protien should be increased by 40%. Enjoy your journey.
