Loose clothing

This may sound crazy but I feel and can see that I have lost a few inches but I'm having a problem feeling good about it. I have actually been getting discouraged when my clothes start getting to big and I haven't made it to the next size down. I just keep thinking what am I doing wrong that I can't get to the next size. I started out at a size 24 US jeans a year ago and made it to a size 18 US and they were loose to the point they would slide down when I walked and I could literally pull them off without unbuttoning and unzipping, tried to get down to the next size down and got discouraged because I wasn't loosing more and the 18s got snug again and now they are falling off again but I can't seem to get down to the next size and I actually have jeans in the next size down but can't get them buttoned or zipped and they are really snug. I have been living in my stretchy pants and capris but even they are starting to get loose. My two pairs of pants I use for exercise I actually bought a size too small and they are starting to fit good without being too tight. I don't really want to go buy more clothes until I have gotten down a few more inches. I guess my question is, has anyone felt this way and how have you dealt with it? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hope I made sense :-)

When I started I had one pair of exercise pants that fit me that I was busting out of:
Then one day I realized I looked like ^that in them lol. I was to the point where I would fold over my jeans a few inches and put a belt on so there was this fold in one side. The 'fashionable male' in my faculty pointed out I needed new clothes one day lol. I didn't want to buy new clothes so I started wearing even less things that didn't look so bad. I know how unsexy you feel. I eventually went to a second hand store and bought 20 dollars worth of clothes (4 pairs of pants and 3 tops lol). This is what I'm wearing now since I still cant fit into allot of my old clothes. Another option is to take in your clothes if you''re handy.0 -
Thrift stores. And Walmart for jeans. And remember, each manufacturer uses a different model for their sizing. So a size X from one can be way different from the fit of a size X from another. So try everything on -- don't just buy.
And you may want to visit a 'body positive' web site -- http://www.alreadypretty.com/2012/01/dressing-the-body-in-flux.html
-- there are plenty of ideas of how to style what you have, and how to 'thrift' and they also link to other sites that feature bodies of every shape and size.0 -
Thank You for the advice, I will probably hit the goodwill in the next couple weeks, til then I think I will put another hole in my belt and try to take in some of my pants, it may not turn out well but its worth a try.0

I'm in a similar situation I wear sweats around the house because they fit..they're loose as heck but I'm not walking down a runway...I got fat over a lot of years and have many sizes of clothes that I graduated up to and up to. I plan next week of going through all my clothes and anything that is too big is going to Salvation Army and anything that is to small is going in order of sizes so I can check from time to time. I know some people say go to walmart or thrift stores but I'm still to big for that. Just have to deal with what I have. Good Luck0

I have two closets full of clothes of varying sizes. I dont have much problem with jeans or dress pants because I will wear them baggy or tight. My issue is with blouses. Im real broad thru the shoulders and somewhat large chested to say the least. If I get em to fit thru the belly they hang funny. If I buy long sleeves it never works and I hafta roll em up anyway. I prefer my blouses to be long and somewhat full. I cant wait to start stepping backwards into a brand new wardrobe.0
