Ok so I have googled overnight oats....most of what I read said to make them with regular rolled oats, not quick or steel cut. But then I get on the boards and see people using quick oats or steel cut oats.....which is the best to use? Does anyone have some tasty low cal recipes for ON oats? What I have seen is really high in cals....trying to keep this as calorie friendly as possible. TIA!

I'm not sure what "overnight" oats are exactly, but this week I finally made the steel cut oats - you have to cook them the night before, then put them in fridge overnight, and cook again in the morning. They are fantastic - I love the consistency and they seem so much more substantial than quick oats. And I made a big batch and keep them in fridge and they store just fine.0

I didnt cook my overnight oats beforehand. And I used "old fashioned" oats. Go to the receipe section and use the search feature at the top. Thats how I found them from this site.0

You don't cook the overnight ones. You use the Old Fashioned ones too..not steel cut or quick. Here's the site

This recipe is a slow cooker overnight one that is hot, it uses Steel cut:

Steel cut outs are the best. They become chewy but not mushy like the quick or rolled. My favorite way to make them is with greek yogurt, milk and a little honey. Mix and put in the fridge overnight and they are great.0

My recipe is...
1/3 c rolled oats
2/3 c almond milk or soy milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
Combine, let sit in fridge overnight. In the morning I have it with fruit and sometimes nut butter. I also mix protein powder in with the oats sometimes.0 -
My receipe is:
1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup fat free greek yogurt
1/3 cup coconut milk (or soy milk, or skim milk, or almond milk)
1 tablespoon chia seeds.
put in container with a lid and shake.
Then add 1/2 cup chopped fruit (peaches, mango, blueberries, cherries, pineapple, whatever you like)
Put in fridge overnight.
You can add a little honey if you like - I don't as I find it sweet enough with the fruit.0 -
I love these oat recipes: http://www.theyummylife.com/Refrigerator_Oatmeal
It's like dessert for breakfast! I alter them a little to lower the calories by sweetening with stevia.0
