Fitness Hair!

I have naturally curly hair that frizzes with the sight of water or flattens out so it is a mess! I want to workout all the time but my hair is what keeps me back because I need to look good for work. A hairdryer makes it a frizz ball so it has to air dry. Now I know why athletic girls always have a ponytail - it is a waste of hair product!!
Any idea for new hairdos?

Cant you just work out with your hair wet tied in a pony tail? Then when you are done let it down to air dry lol
I had long hair and recently cut it short and I am in love with it. But I can barely get it into a pony tail. It consists of me using like 5 bobby pins to help keep it back when Im at the gym.
But - I have wavy hair and I straighten it almost daily because its much easier to do.0 -
Have you tried putting it in a ponytail, braiding it, and putting it in a bun with bobbypins?0

Shave that *kitten* off! Problem solved.0

Did that in high school!
I am leaning more and more to cutting it...but I love the length. Just the smallest ponytail makes it straighten. Maybe work just needs to get over it and deal with my new look until I reach my goal weight0 -
Can you exercise after work instead?0

I put my hair is a low ponytail and pull it up then stick a jaw hair clip in it .Keeps it out of my face and off my neck0

Have you ever used a hair dryer with a diffuser on the end and absolutely not touch it while it dries? When I did the curly hair thing, I would flip my hair over and put the diffuser at the ends so it would blow up into my hair but I wouldnt touch/scrunch/nothing other than work it a bit with the diffuser itself.0

Ah, don't I know those woes lol.
My hair shrivels up very tight when I sweat (which is usually NOT the look I'm going for) and to "reset" it takes a great deal of energy, something I simply cannot afford when I'm barely squeezing in workout time. Instead of stressing over it, I've learned to deal with it...and modify my bedtime routine so that my hair doesn't like quite as bad morning after a workout.0 -
i had long hair and then cut it short. i hated it. I have very thick hair, so much so, that is it grows long, it is so heavy it gives me head aches.
i wear it down at work but as soon as I get home, its up in a ponytail.0 -
I feel your pain. Can you braid? Do you like to wear it up? There a lot of great ideas on youtube for updo's that take no time at all to complete I like to do a braid that crosses from the top of one side to the bottom of the other and then wrap the extra braid in a bun, it looks great! Or do a twist, leaving the ends out to curl and pouf out the top. If you want to wear it down, I say wash it and use the diffuser as someone else suggested.0

I love the ball cap, pony tail, or visor look in the gym. Keep the hair long0

That's my motto!!!0 -
Your hair looks very similar to mine except maybe a little curlier. I would caution the short dew, but only from my own experience. It tended to stick out EVERYWHERE. I do as someone else suggested and either work out with it in a pony tail after work, or if I must work out in the morning, I wash and then pull it back into a bun or braid. I can't do the upside down diffuser thing because my hair is sooo dang thick, it ends up about 6-8 inches around my head in a halo. I am a huge fan of my straightener, but it's not really possible to wash and straighten in one morning, takes too long to dry.
Good luck, try different things until you find what you like.0 -
Ohhh, I put post workout hair ideas. While I'm working out and want to keep my curlies, I twist it in a loose bun on top of my head and use "spin pins" to keep it there. I have to wear it up, usually a ponytail or bun because I can't stand hair on my neck when I'm hot. Good luck0

Have you tried coconut oil to tame it down? I used to have trouble with my hair being really frizzy and, well just plain scary, if I blow dried it. I have cut it much shorter than it used to be. (I have allergies and the dr wants me to wash my hair every night so I don't sleep with the mold from outdoors right by my face, and it used to take HOURS to air dry, when it was long). Anyway, I can now use a blow dryer, but I use the diffuser and it really helps if I add just a little coconut oil to it...really tames it down and makes it shiny and pretty. Hope you find what works for you!0
