I had gained weight this morning :(

I have been doing really well with nutrition and work outs for about ten days. I've lost 5 lbs. Yesterday I didn't work out at all and I guess I cheated A LITTLE. I had hot chocolate and a popcicle with my daughter last night, which put me over my calories.
I've got a huge work out day today planned, but am a little deflated that just those two hundred calories made me gain two lbs. Is this just my body doing weird things? Did I actually gain two lbs back for such a ridiculous cheat? (I mean, when I think cheat, I think Mexican and Margaritas!!) Do you guys have the same experience sometimes?

It'll be water weight - sometimes, depending on factors like your water and sodium intake, your body can store more water and that comes out as extra lbs on the scale. This is why they reccommend you don't weigh yourself every day - you can fluctuate as much as 3-4lbs in water weight, especially if it's near THAT time of the month for the ladies >.< I wouldn't worry!0

It takes 3500 to gain a pound, you did not gain 2lbs with 200 calories.
this could be water weight, are you over your sodium this week or not getting enough water?0 -
Thanks. It's got to be the sodium. I definitely get enough water. And I guess I have it drilled in my head that I need to burn 3500 cal to LOSE weight.....I forget that the opposite is true to gain.0

I happens. If you weigh yourself every day, you'll see lots of little gains and losses. Don't sweat it; you'll see the weight go down to a new low point every once in a while, and that's how you know you're still making progress overall.0

Same thing happened to me this week. I splurged on some Mint Oreos finally, and the next few mornings I was either at the same weight or a little higher. I didn't eat any yesterday, and today was my weigh in, and I'd gotten back to a normal weight (with some weight lost!). So, it was actually nice to know that fluctuation happens with fat/sodium or I would have lost my mind. Hang in there, and keep on pushing!0

Hi
I feel for you but fluctuation happens, i find it happens to me all the time. sometime i can have a perfect week fitness and food wise and either not lose an ounce or even gain, it can get quite soul destroying at times when your putting your all into it . just stay focused and carry on as you were, it will all come right again and 2lb isn't the end of the world, it could just be water but a hot choc and Popsicle wont cause that. Just make sure it doesn't turn into 4lb! Keep smiling :-)0 -
Don't worry about it. You should really only be concerned with your weight over longer periods of time. At week at min. This happens to me all the time. My daily weight change is about 2lb. I'm usually 1-2lb lighter in the morning then if I get on the scale in the evening. Also, if I have a 'Bad" day, mine are way worse than yours, heh, I can see my weight jump 2-4 lbs. But in a day or two my system cleans out and i'm back close to where I was with only a bit of pain from the bad day.0

Good lord, do you honestly think 200 calories is going to gain weight, thinking about it rationally ?
I wish people would consider all the factors that cause weight to fluctuate hourly and daily, and quit weighing themselves every single day then getting het up over changes that can be influenced by so many things, including water retention due to exercise/heat/TOM/sodium, or the amount of food still sitting being digested. It is not a linear thing.0 -
Thanks everyone.......just needed a little boost this morning. To the "Good Lord" woman; it's not really necessary to be a sarcastic and condescending.....and is exactly the reason I shy away from online forums. The cloak of anonymity gives some people the green flag to be rude.0
