Been sick all week, but too tired+hungry to track calories

When not sick, I've been really faithful about tracking calories, and coming in somewhat UNDER exercise calories(I've been averaging eating about half of them back on my exercise days which is pretty much 6 days out of 7). I've had a bad cold since Tuesday, have had fitful sleep, and whenever I don't get enough sleep, I'm too hungry and my usual discipline just goes out the window. Sometimes with colds one isn't all that hungry, but I sure am. I'm just feeling like I should take a break until I get completely better and then get back on the bandwagon. I don't have all that much to lose, maybe 8 pounds, so it isn't like I'm starting off with having to lose lots. No offense to people who do - best of luck out there and stay the course however you can. During this period of sickness, it's been almost impossible for me to stick to 1200 calories a day, when I've been averaging 1450 on most days when exercising. I'm so hungry, and it's not for light stuff - I'm craving sugar and starch, which is unusual for me!:( I just don't want to have this happen for too many days(cries here!) Just feeling down today, likely because I thought I was getting better yesterday, went shopping and bought my usual healthy food and all, and today I've had a relapse - ugh!
Anyone else in a similar boat?

I was like this a few weeks ago. I stopped logging and just focused on getting well. Eat what your body tells you it needs but also make sure you're getting plenty of healthy stuff (lots of water, veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean protein, etc). Better to have your body heal faster and get back to normal than to stay sick for a long time because you're trying to hit your calorie goal. Just my 2 cents :)

im not in your boat now - but i was, earlier this year i started trying to lose weight and then i got flu - i kinda stopped the calorie counting and did feel crappy from it to be honest. BUT, if you're not trying to lose weight in a short amount of time or for a certain dat/event AND its only 10lbs or so then it's absolutely fine! don't beat yourself up about it just focus on getting yourself better! try having loads of fresh veggies and soup as it fills you up for longer. Just relax and don't worry about it :) stress will only keep you sick for longer. i only needed to lose 8lbs or so too so i just took a break and decided to get back on it when i knew i was 100% better. :) good luck and hope you get well soon.

Thanks all for the support - I'm not alone here! I did have a green smoothie today for lunch. and I did have my half of a sprouted english muffin for breakfast with natural peanut butter and half an orange. But I've also had chocolate and cookies - ugh! This last, save for my daily allotted couple of chocolate pieces, is not normal for me. When I'm down with a cold, somehow protein doesn't appeal, nor do salad greens, I'm mostly vegetarian, for the record. I do eat eggs, seafood and a little bit of cheese however as animal products.

Do you like beans? You could have a vegetarian soup with beans in it to get your protein up, get some extra liquids in you and maybe even some veggies.

I do like beans, in fact they're a regular part of my diet. But I've been too sick to prepare much in the way of food, and I DON'T eat canned soups, ever. The bean soup I do have is frozen solid in my freezer, LOL and I don't own a microwave either. Nothing's particularly appealing right now save for something toasted. Not gonna eat now as it's too late, it's almost 8pm.
