calorie count vs hunger

I am stumped. I know that to keep your metabolism up and to not put your body into starvation mode that you need to consume at least 1200 calories a day. I've also heard that it is best to eat small meals every 3 to 4 hrs. Thats all well and good but what if I'm not hungry?? Should I still eat so that I am meeting my cals for the day and the 3-4 hr rule? Should I not eat because you aren't supposed to eat when you aren't hungry? I feel like I am stuck in a loop. Anyone have some advice?

You have to know yourself if you aren't hungry I say don't eat. But for me I usually force myself to have something small because if I don't I'll end up being starving later and go crazy. If you do t have that problem
Then don't eat0
