Having the urge to binge

Does seeing chocolate cake, sweets, or trigger foods you love on tv, online, or in person ever have this desire to binge and eat and eat until you're so full and satisfied? I'm fighting the urge to binge and thank god I took away all those trigger foods in the house. What do you do when or if you've ever experienced this?

Removing easy access to those foods helped me. I also allowed myself some of those foods. Perhaps you would benefit from having one meal a week where you allowed yourself a reasonable amount of whatever it is you're craving.

You may also find a little healthier food that will kind of substitute and help control your impulse- like chocolate cherrios instead of a cookie.

If you do break down and binge don't beat yourself up too badly over it. battles will be won and lost. Focus on winning the war. It just is more important to have good days than bad days and the weight will come off.

I used to feel possessed when it came to sugar cravings. I think drinking more water and supplementing with chromium helped me get a handle on it.

Great question..seeing the foods does trigger me and I really try not to look . I have read about the brain chemistry of this. I find it really hard to eat a moderate amount of my trigger foods so it easier not to eat them at all and just for me after about 30 days I Don't miss them most of the time. If I am around people who are eating them I make sure I have eaten plenty of protein in advance so I am not hungry and I drink water. I don't keep these foods in my house.
  • Today I was craving something and couldnt figure out what it was. I think I ate more calories trying to fullfill it than I would have if I had just eaten a chocolate bar.

not having the food in the house is what helps. i can want it as much as i want, but as long as i dont have it in the house who cares.

BUT if i do have it in the house, i make sure to only get the box mix kind. that way i'd have to work for my binge. but never again will i keep ready made easy to eat trigger items in large quantities in my home. no chips, cookies, candy, cupcakes, etc.

journal. I'm a binge eater....in therapy for it and everything....it'll take my mind off the obsession to journal about it, etc. Or go outsdie....take a shower....play with the cats.

Today I ate a pack of raisinettes and boy did I feel guilty, Gregpack thank you for your comment it was very encouraging. For the majority of the day I’ve been beating myself up, I rarely bring junk food inside my home, we had movie night and one thing led to another and after I knew it I had eaten a whole box of raisinettes. The sad part about it was that I didn’t even enjoy them; all I could do was think about all the exercise I needed to do to break even. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that when you get that urge, shake it off because it’s not worth it, go and grab a yogurt, a bowl of oatmeal or egg white, something that will fill you up but won’t hurt your progress.

I stop and think "will it be worth it? Will this help me on my way to my goal?" If the answer is no then I walk away.

Lately i have been telling myself that even if i do eat the binge/comfort food i've been craving i will still feel s*** about what's getting me down. Seems to be working since I faced up to that fact x
