I'm having a difficult time deciding.

I am having a difficult time deciding what to do. I thought I really wanted a gym membership, but the one gym that has a ton of stuff has bad hours, and the other one (open 24/7/365) costs too much. I have lost 85 pounds to date just doing videos (mostly Biggest Loser, Turbo Jam, and Gilad with various others thrown in), running outside (when the weather cooperates), and using my exercise bike/stepper on occasion. I have weights that range for 2 pounds to 8 pounds, and I got a 10 pound kettle ball for Christmas.
I guess what I need advice on is what's my best bet to get to my goal weight, 25ish pounds away? Continue with the videos and running? Get more videos/more advanced videos (like Chalean Extreme or P90X)? Get a gym membership despite the bad hours or cost? Get a treadmill? Get a weight bench (another reason I kind of wanted the gym membership...access to other weight machines)?
Please advise.
(BTW, I'm sorry I keep posting random things like this, but I just *think* I need something to change up my routine to get off these last pounds and get in nice physical condition.)

Sounds to me like you are doing great with the system you have. You know the old saying, "Don't fix it if it ain't broke".
Gyms are great if you have the time, money, and motivation to get there. But alot of people are very successful working out at home for all the same reasons. Don't give up on your system, just get motivated to keep going. You can finish and lose all the weight you want. And congratulations on the weight you have already lost!0 -
If you're thinking about Beachbody workouts, you might want to consider Slim in 6. I love P90X, but SI6 has worked better for losing weight — at least for me.0

You can do it! I too am working on a 25+ weightloss (again). I love this site for tracking, it helps me with portions, etc., but have never had time for exercise and give up quickly on the dieting. I am committed now to tracking calories and using my wii fit plus for the exercise. True it is not a total workout, but it is helping to keep me motivated. I hope to increase time spent on neighborhood walks as well.
Good luck!0 -
My husband and I were having the same debate. We opted for a weight bench and videos and am so glad we did!!! Check out craigslist for weights and benches before going retail. We have almost all the equipment we would be using at the gym for less than 3 months of membership costs and it's all in our garage, no gas money or commute time to the gym.
Congrats on 85 lb!!!!0 -
I think it depends how you feel where you are at. I think if you just keep on your track and maybe add some new videos you can do it! I lost 50 lbs without exercising at all a few years back. However, if you feel like you are getting burnt out on what you are doing then consider the gym. Have you talked to the 24/7 gym? They may have new deals with the new year. Some places offer specials if you only go on specific days (which may work great with your schedule).
Personally, I don't know how you have the time to do all that with 3 kids under 5.
Good luck
PS. My daughter is 6/29/07 :O)0 -
