Ezekiel bread

What is so special about this bread? I'd never heard of it before so googled it and it just seems to be a recipe from the bible. (i'm not trivializing the bible)
If it is so good, can we buy it in the UK?

I buy When Pigs Fly Whole Wheat Low Carb. But I like Ezekiel bread too.

There is no magic pill - well, counting carbs, exercising and eating wholesome foods.

If you want to eat well when it comes to bread, I suggest sticking to whole grains, and watching your carbs and protein in your log. That said, some foods work well for some and not others. Try it out, and see how you do.

I'm not sure if you can purchase it in the UK, I'm US based. But I can say that I buy it in the freezer section of the grocery, and I really enjoy the taste and texture of the bread. It's a really healthful way to get in carbohydrates and protein all at once. Additionally, it satisfies my need for a crunchy, carby, snack :) Hope my reply is just a little bit helpful!

I've begun purchasing this bread at the recommendation of my nutritionist, who seems like a pretty sharp dude. I notice that it is kept in the refridgerated section at the health food store as it has no preservatives.

I think mostly it is devoid of ingredients that I don't understand, which is my #1 rule when shopping.

It is also pretty delicious. I use "Food for Life - Ezekiel 4:9 Organic Sprouted 100% Whole Grain Bread".

My buddies get a giggle at me eating anything with a Bible verse on it, though.

It's not the holy grail, that's for sure, but it's closer to "food" than the crap they sell on the bread aisle in American markets. I eat it sometimes. (I don't eat much bread.)

Don't sweat finding it. If you want a hearty, healthy, whole grain bread I'm sure you can find a good one in the UK.

    Ezekiel bread is delicious!
It's readily available here in Canada. I love the Ezekiel Bread english muffins - I have one for breakfast every morning with peanut butter or low sugar jam and keeps me full until lunch.

It is undeniably organic bread and only contains low amounts of sodium. Also NO flour. It's made from 4 types of beans and four sprouted grains (barley, wheat, millet, pinto beans, kidney beans, rye or spelt and lentils). It's an excellent protein source, vital amino acids and dietary fiber (enhances digestion!). It's a great addition to a vegetarian diet or a wheat free diet since it does not contain flour. It has no trans fats and no cholesterol.

I also LOVE the fact that it's low GI (glycemic index) - especially useful for people who require keeping their levels of blood sugar in check (contains no additives like corn syrup).

Because it does not contain any preservatives, it has a very short shelf life - probably the only drawback. For that reason, I buy it when it comes on sale and freeze it until I need it.

I am not a big bread eater, but when I do eat bread it is generally some form of Ezekiel Bread. YUM!

I love Ezekial bread! I try to avoid the white stuff (white flour, sugar, anything that is "enriched). So, I eat it because it is flourless....you can see the actual grains. It is the least process bread I can find. Also, I am a vegetarian (most of the time) and it provides a lot of protein. It is also very filling. I eat two slices of the raisin bread every morning with peanut butter and it keeps me full until lunch. It comes frozen here, so i just keep it in my freezer and pop it in the toaster. The Ezekial brand has also come out with pasta and tortillas. I haven't tried the tortillas yet, but the pasta is great! One serving fills me up, unlike white pasta which I end up going back for more or leaves me hungry later on. If you can find it, try it!

Well i'm not sure we have that in the main shops in the UK. Maybe in the cities in the shops specialising in imported food but not out here in the country.
Anyone from the UK heard of the equivalent bread here?
