Hello all
I am fairly new to MFP and am really confused on how to drop this weight! I got truly serious about 6 weeks ago and lost 12 pounds which I thought was great! About 2 weeks ago i gained 2 lbs. I have no idea why! I have upped my exercise big time and I was only eating 1400 cals. So....
Then I upped my cals to 1620 and finally went with MFP suggestion of 1830. My biggest issue is I have been eating at 1830 for a week now and have not lost anything. I know I have lost inches and people say I am looking thinnner but why isnt the scale moving??!!! I work out almost everyday between zumba, 30DS, pilates and general weigh lifting at the gym too. I burn over 3500 cals a week easy and am eating at a deficit
I looked up my BMR its 2100....they say dont eat below your BMR but why doesn't MFP say to eat 2100 then?? I'm confused. I want to eat whatever I need to too be healthy and loose weight.
I never would eat my exercise calories back but I have been forcing myself to try since yesterday. Its really hard because I am not hungry but will drink a protein shake or fruit to try and fill it in.
Any suggestions would be great! I am 288lbs 5'8 and I want to be at a healthy weight of 180. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you're doing good! If you're feeling better, your clothes are getting looser, and people are noticing your weight loss then don't worry so much about what the scale says. Scales are evil sometimes.0

I agree I think you're doing fantastic... The scale is a little devil and can really put a damper on your success... I say ditch the scale and go with the inches lost!! Keep up the great work!!0

Sounds like you're doing a good job girl. So long as your waist is looking slimmer and people see the difference and most importantly you feel better!
It could just be you gaining muscle in place of existing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat and is a lot smaller. So you can lose but the scale may not budge. Also, keep your exercises varied so you keep your body guessing. 0 -
It sounds like you're doing great. Anytime you change calories or exercise, sometimes it can take a week or two to see the effects of your changes as your body needs time to adjust.
Personally, I loose in bursts not steadily...for example, I will loose 2-4lbs in a week then nothing for 3 or 4 weeks then another burst...so don't get discouraged if you don't see changes every week...everyone looses differently.0 -
feel free to add me if you'd like too0

Aloha My Fitness Pal,
I just started tracking my food with MFP this week. It seems to make me more accountable for my food. I was only tracking half heartedly on paper. I just started working out in Jan. 2012. I'm much older than you 56. I have a Trainer and she does not want me to worry to much about the scale. She explained that worry and stress over the numbers on the scale will stress your body and you can't lose weight. Be kind to yourself and stop weighing everyday. I ate pretzels twice last week and gained over 5lbs. Just eat healhty natural unprocessed foods if you can and you will lose your weight. I was your weigt when I was about your age. You are beautiful and have a beautiful family. Hang in there you can do it. I've been struggling all my life and this is the frst time I actually think I'm going to do it.0
