Eating after a certain time?

I have a bit of a strange body clock (as you may tell by the time I post this), mostly because of work hours and such, and my mum has told me that eating after a certain time (say 9pm) is worse than eating earlier. So, for example, eating a meal at 11pm would be worse for weight loss than eating the same meal at 7pm.
I don't know whether this is true or not? Can anybody shed some light on it? Thanks.

It's an old (but still oft-repeated) myth. Your body doesn't know what time it is. Eat whenever it fits your schedule.0

What matter is what you eat, not when you eat it.0

If you think about it...if you don't eat three hours before bed..and then sleep eight hours. That keeps any calories from passing your lips for almost half of the day. That is where the benefit is realized. And if you sleep more..even better! I think it is all about controlling the calories.
I have found not snacking..which has been hard..has cut three to four hundred calories from my diet that I'd normally consume. I don't think snacking is bad.. but -- not snacking is like not eating three hours before bed.. it controls the calories better..and you are more apt lose.0 -
Doesn't matter at all, calories are what matters.0

Mum's aren't always right!!
I think the best thing to do is to experiment to see what works for your body and your lifestyle.
Focus on eating when it makes you feel good and when it helps you stay on your calorie target.0
