Binge eating (support?)

If anyone suffering with BED (Binge eating disorder) is trying to recover, I'm in the same boat.
I have tried taking the first step last night (talking about it with my mom), and she didn't want to hear anything that I had to say.
So I'm at a loss right now.
I desperately need motivation of any sort.
Also, if you binge as well, I'd love it if you messaged me and helped me stay on the right track in my road to recovery.
Thanks!

I know what you're going through, I've suffered from BED and other eating disorders for many years. I'm going to be honest and say that it is unfortunately something that I continue to struggle with from time to time even though I thought I got a hold of it a few years back.
Feel free to add me and/or message me if you have any questions or just need some support.
Good luck
And remember that you ARE strong enough to get past this.
Also, you should really try and talk to a professional of some sort about this aswell, that's what I had to end up doing.0 -

I can't talk to a professional about it, I don't drive and I don't have insurance. I'm screwed.0 -
Do you go to school? If so there is probably some sort of help available to you.
Try calling the number on this site, maybe they know of state or federal funded treatment available

^ i second that. if you got to a counselor or something i'm sure they'd have a talk with your mom and maybe she'll see that you aren't joking around with this. i know how you feel, i lost 45lbs & gained back more than half because i didn't control my eating patterns.0 -
I have had issues with binge eating for a long time. I was binge free until.. tonight. My husband said, you aren't eating enough and put breadsticks in front of me.. it was over. I was able to stop after three, thank goodness. I used to be ten times worse. You are definitely not alone.0

I just recently found out that I am a binge eater. I always just thought I was addicted to food or something like that, but I fit the profile of a binger exactly. I was eating just about everything in the house, whether I was hungry or not (usually not), and always hid it from my family. I'm officially 24 days without a binge and am feeling good about my chances of breaking the cycle. Usually by this point I would have given in, but something seems different this time. I don't think the urge to binge will ever completely go away, but when I get the urge now I just stop and think about what I'm doing. I'm lucky though in the fact that I confessed to my family that I'm a binger and they are super supportive and help by encouraging me and letting me know they're proud. We're all here for you though and we know how hard it is; you can do it though!0

I have begun to realize that I am a binge eater. I am using this site to track my patterns. It's keeping me accountable and honest. I don't plan to deprive myself but I have to break the patterns. I quit smoking two years ago and found the hardest part was breaking my patterns (smoking after a meal, smoking in the car). I have the house to myself some nights and find the second my husband leave for work I find something to eat--hunger seems to have little to do with. Sometimes I stop with the "one" thing to eat but other nights I have kept going and going. My new goal is to not eat late at night at all. It's hard, and I know I probably need professional help also but I also think there is so much advice, support, and information on the internet that I can beat this. I feel like since I was able to give up a 20+ year tobacco habit, I can give up anything if I really try. Good luck to you and keep tracking yourself, be it a good day or a bad day!!!!0

I find Overeaters Anonymous helpful (and its free) with the emotional/spiritual recovery (you can read about it on the internet). But OA isn't about food plans (it doesn't recommend any) so I find that the tracking my food here, and keeping a daily diary so I can figure out my food triggers and stay away from them is what works for me. Also I find if I eat a lower carb/higher protein diet, it keeps my blood sugar more stable and I don't feel the urge to binge. Also I eat on a regular schedule, because when I am physically hungry I am setting my self up. I don't eat sugars (and even stay away from higher sugar fruit) because that is a trigger for me. But everyone is different when it comes to the food, so you have to find out what works for you. Also exercise as recommend on MFP is great for me because it relieves stress, and I feel so much better. The first 30 days are hard, but then it gets much easier.0
