For road warriors, what meals / snacks do you pack along?

I travel a lot for work (too much!) and usually carry a cooler so I can pack my own meals. Otherwise I break down and hit a drive thru. Wondering what types of meals / snacks do others carry?

When I need to take food along I usually pack apples/mandarin oranges, rice crackers, protein bars and plain blanched peanuts. Things that I can grab and snack on easily.0

Muesli and greek yoghurt
Almonds and cashews
Flatbread (ryvita) and roast beef
cherries, carrots, apples
bottled water and herbal tea (hot or iced)
smoked gouda and salami (yes, it's fattening, but so flavorful that you can eat it by the half oz.)0 -
hoping to also get some clues too.. sometimes, it is way easier to make bad choices on the road than to actually PLAN. I'd like to change that!
I know WHAT not to eat, but how can we make this all easier?0 -
Tuna in foil packets isn't bad either if you put it on flat bread or water crackers0

Nuts, fruit and string cheese always good travel snacks. I also grill chicken for the week and put them in baggies and take that
of lunch. Raw veggies are a great snack between meals too.0 -
Trailmix made of dried fruit, peanuts and almonds
Beef Jerky
Quest Protein Bars
Wraps made of anything you want. Two would easily pack into a quart ziplock bag.
Apples
Clementines
Grapes
Baby Carrots
Salad in a cup so you can hold it with one hand while driving.
Protein Shakes0 -
Last road trip (two weeks ago) -
zucchini "sticks" (sliced up raw zucchini)
celery pieces
baby carrots
cauliflower pieces
homemade (low fat) roasted red pepper hummus
apples
mini pretzel twists
no fat fig and/or raspberry bars (usually buy Barbara's Bakery version)
raw almonds
rice cakes
rice crackers
LOTS of bottled water - flat and fizzy
chocolate squares (I do "Endangered Species" 88% cocoa individually wrapped pieces)0 -
i pack snacks for my husband all the time.
Bananas, Apple Slices, Roasted Almonds, Kashi granola bars, Crackers with Natural Peanut butter.
(prepare the crackers and put in a container so they are ready to eat when you need them)
If i make him lunch, I'll make wraps with meat, cheese, avacado, tomato. *drizzle it with a little lite italian dressing. Yum!!!!
These things are easy and quick to eat one handed while your busy. I don't know about you...but, sometimes you may never really get a break. So there's no fuss when your trying to eat it.
Hope this helped.0 -
Ingredients to make wraps, peanut butter, thin bagels, cream cheese, banana, cantaloupe, plums, Pretty much anything I want. We have taken 3 vacations this summer with one more before school starts in the upcoming weeks I carry all kinds of things to keep in the motel so that I wouldn't be tempted to eat something I shouldn't.
I am a teacher and I have also just purchased specially designed bowls that have ice packs that fit in the bowls, one is made special for carrying cereal and milk, another for yogurt., sandwiches, and salads. All I have to do is pop the ice pack in the freezer and take it out and add it the bowls. I am a teacher and this will be my first year on my new life style journey when school starts back up this year. I am trying to plan ahead to stay successful.0 -
Thanks to all for the tips!0
