Guilt-free waffles :)
I love waffles, they are (one of) my guilty pleasure(s) and I altered a recipe tonight to make them nice and guilt-free!
Ingredients:
1 cup self raising flour, sifted
1 egg, separated
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup water
45g flora light margarine
1 tablespoon caster sugar
Method:
1.Pre heat waffle maker.
2.Place flour, egg yolk, milk, water and margarine in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, mix until smooth.
3.Using clean, dry beaters, beat egg whites in a small bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and beat until it has dissolved.
4.Gently fold egg white into batter until well combined.
5.Spoon a little mixture into each waffle mould (this will vary depending on size of waffle iron), ensuring mixture fills all grooves; close lid.
6.Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm.
Serves 4 people.
Per serving:
159 Cal, 23g Carbs, 5g Fat, 5g Protein, 26g Sodium, 5g Sugar
May not be the best recipe, but sometimes when I have some calories I need to eat and I want a nice yummy snack, they certainly fit the bill!

23 grams of carbs doesn't sound guilt free to me. No thanks. But good luck on your journey0

it's less than 2 slices of bread, and as I said it's just a treat! Made it as low-fat and low-cal as I could see fit without altering the recipe too much.0 -
Sounds pretty guilt free to me! But what is caster sugar?0
