    Check with your doctor first and have him/her tell you what a good healthy weight would be for your body frame. You want to make sure you feel good and are not setting yourself up for other issues in the future by being too large or too small. There are a ton of calculators online that can give you an idea of where you should be for your age and height, but my best advice would be to see your doctor. They can do your body fat percentage while you are there :)

    I eat 1600 cals a day plus most of my exercise calories, I think 135-140 is reasonable, it really depends on your build, you said you have an athletic build so it seems fine to me.

    I'm 5'8" and at my GW of 135. I am 53 years old. I hope to be within two lbs up or down of this weight the rest of my life!

    I'm 5'6" closer to 5'7" though. I curently weigh 57kg (125lbs) and I want to weigh in at about 50-52kgs (110-114lbs). I want to look slender not bulky :-/

    Hiya,

    I'm 5'8", and have a lot of muscle. Like, I look like a bodybuilder, but I'm not. I'm currently 161-163, but I'd like to be around 156. At 148, I'm skin and bones. If we're built anything alike, 140 might be too low for you. If I were 140, I'd look like an anorexic fashion model!

    Hey! 5'7", starting weight was 167.5 lbs and I am currently 149.6 lbs. Goal weight would be 130 lbs, but I would be happy with 135 lbs! I currently am in 9/10 size pants depending on the brand. Started in size 11/12!

    Hi, I'm 5'-8" tall. My starting weight was 208; I am now hovering between 198-200 lbs. My ideal goal weight is 135 lbs, but this is to be reached in stages over the next 13 months. My first goal is to be 175 lbs. by Sep 2012, and I can't seem to get lower than 198 lbs. Ugh! The next goal is to reach 150 lbs by Mar 2013 and 135 lbs. by Sep 2013. I've been at this AGAIN since April 2012 and all I've lost and managed to keep off is 8 pounds. I haven't been 135 pounds since my first child was born and she is almost 21 years old ... BUT in the spirit of the Olympic games, I'm going for the gold!

    Hi!!! I'm 5'7" and 150.6 lbs. I started the year at 167.4 Ibs (my heaviest a few years ago was 190! Ahhhhh!) and just joined MFP a few weeks ago. My goal is 135 Ibs. Feel free to add me!!

    I'm 5'9", 25 years old, and my heaviest weight was (two years ago) around 218. (Yikes! I know, I was surprised too, uni snuck up on me heheh). My goal weight is 165, and I'm currently 195-ish.

    I'm 5'7" and weight 177. I had a all time high of 204 and and all time low of 135. I'm a lot older than you though, 54 years old. I currently would like to weigh around 165 and reevaluate if I want to lose more. Good luck to you. List everything that you eat be honest. You'll do great. Keep us posted.     I am 28 yo, 5'6.5", and current weight is 140. My goal is 130-135 but I really want to put on more lean muscle so 135 would probably be pretty good. We'll see when I get there :)

    Hi, I'm 27, 5ft7 tall and current weight is 162, my target weight is 150 although any lower and I wouldnt be complaining! I'm quite new to mfp and find 'dieting' tough as I love a treat now and then and so I prefer to work out and hence still getting used to eating back my exercise cals.
    I'm getting married in December this year and would like to be in the best shape of my life for the day and for my honeymoon and so lots of hard work between now and then!
    I run 3-4 times a week and am currently doing the 30 day shred and so I am finding that the difference is in how I look and feel and how my clothes fit rather than the scales at the moment, I'm hoping that will start to change soon!
