Pre-Jog/Walk Snack

Good Morning!!!
Was wondering if anyone can make a suggestion for me. I am waking up first thing in the morning and doing 1 hour of jogging and walking..half and half until I work myself up to a steady jog. Since I am going after not eating for 7-9 hours...probably even more considering I don't eat before bedtime....should I have a pre-jog snack? Carbs and proteins? Or even better...a fruit protein smoothie...drink half prior and half after? I have never worked out in the morning before so I am not sure how to incorporate snacks into my new routine. I went this first week going on an empty stomach and had enough energy but think it would be more beneficial to snack first...no? Thanks to anyone that can help.

you may lose more fat if you do it in a fasted state, if that's part of your goal.

Yes, it certainly is my goal Just didn't know if I was doing harm by not eating. Thanks!!0

I don't have enough energy to work out without a snack. What works best for me are carbs. I usually have a Mini Cliff Energy bar and some dried fruit. I don't know what's considered "best" protein/carbs, but I've tried both and the carbs in dried fruit work best for me.0

I generally either go for a run or do circuit training followed by pilates first thing in the morning. Either option takes me around an hour, and I don't eat anything beforehand (nor do I feel like I suffer a lack of energy because of that).
I did wonder the same thing as you when I was getting up to do Insanity in the mornings, but I found even doing that was fine on an empty stomach.
Admittedly, I do tend to eat a little snack (something like 10-15 almonds) fairly close to bedtime. That may be part of my not needing any food. I do also drink a protein smoothie immediately after.0 -
I've done P90X in the past and always had to make sure I was eating enough which was tough...that's what has me worried about not consuming anything prior to my jog but I do have enough energy on the empty stomach so I dunno!! Thanks all!!0
